facilitated the escape of thousands of Jews >from occupied France during World War
II by issuing over 1,000 visas in Bordeaux in June,1940. For his efforts he
received the Righteous Among the Nations award >from Yad Vashem in 2008.

My PGGM was Schlome Selzer >from Trembowla, Galicia.
I have seen pages of testimony, at Yad Vashem, >from Miriam Schmidt, about several
Selzer family- including her father, Israel, who was the son of Michael Selzer.
I am trying to locate any of her children, who may have some documents related to
Michael Selzer and his parents. I have strong suspicions that this family is
related to my PGGM, but have been unsuccessful, to date, of making the link.
I know that Schlome's parents were Naftali and Reisl Selzer, >from Trembowla. I also
have information that there were several other children of this couple- but their
sibship to my PGGM is missing.

Pahost / Byerazino research turned up a 1918 telegram in Russian and two, two-page
personal letters in Yiddish dated 1906 and 1915. The documents are associated with
Chaim Feldbin who perished in a pogrom in Pahost in 1920. His story, as well as the
tale of how Chaim's father won a 46-year-long lawsuit against Count Potocki, the
Polish landlord of Pahost and Byerazino, is among the family stories on our new

We do not need word-for-word translations, but would dearly love to know the gist
of the contents, as well as any genealogical information they might contain.

Sitzensdorf in Thuringia was the site of a 1944/45 forced labor camp for
Mischlingen, i.e. persons with both Jewish and non-Jewish parentage. Of the
total 203 survivors, most were Germans but there were also a few Dutch,
French and Belgian prisoners. Thanks to Alan Seid and Barbara Elkeles who
entered this information >from an immediate postwar list available at the
USHMM, these names will shortly appear on Jewishgen.

If any researcher has a particular interest in Sitzendorf or Mischlingen in
general please let me know and I will be happy to provide a copy of the
database.
