Gesher Galicia is pleased to announce the indexing and recent
uploading onto the All Galicia Database of the following record sets.

1. Austrian Ministries files
AGAD in Warsaw has several fonds =E2=80=93 collections of documents that
were drawn up in Galicia, in its provincial capital of Lemberg/Lwow,
by the Austrian government in the late 19th century and in the 20th
century up to the First World War. These fonds (nos. 304-311 at AGAD)
contain documents gathered by the Ministries of Religion & Education,

Hi,
My grandmother's name was Milka Gruden and she was born in Slovenia. I'm trying
to find out if her family are of Jewish ancestry as she has two Jewish names. My great
grandfather died during the Holocaust in Slovenia. His surname was Lunder, but I don't
think they were Jewish. I'm interested to know about Gruden family history in Slovenia
before 1920 .

Kind regards
Andrea

Bela Guttmann (1899 Budapest - 1981 Vienna) #austria-czech

rjfriedman@...

David Bolchover (david@...), a writer based in London,
is currently working on a biography of soccer coach Bela Guttmann
(1899 Budapest - 1981 Vienna), a Holocaust survivor whose team won the
European Cup in the early 1960s.=20

Mr. Bolchover would appreciate hearing >from anyone who can help answer
several questions he has about Gutmann, or suggest avenues for
research:

--Where was he >from 1939-43? Gutmann was in Budapest in 1939, and in
1944 was hiding in Ujpest, and then in a labor camp in Budapest. He
was probably also in or near Budapest in the intervening years, but we
don=B4t know that for sure. Some commentators have suggested that he was
in Switzerland, but I found no evidence to support that conclusion. =20

--When and where did Guttmann and Mariann Moldovan, who met in Ujpest
in 1939, get married? Biographical sources say 1942, but she was a
non-Jew and intermarriage was against the law in Hungary >from August
1941.

--Where did his father (Moshe) Abraham Guttmann die? He was born in
Tisza=FAjhely in 1866/7 and was alive at the outbreak of WW2 but simply
disappeared.

--Did his brother Armin Guttmann (1893 Budapest - 1945 Buchenwald)
have a wife and children, and if so, what happened to them?

--When was Mariann Moldovan born? Her father was Pal Moldovan. She
lived in Ujpest before the war and died in 1997 in Vienna.

--When did Guttmann become an Austrian citizen? (I think it was in the
1950s, and I have submitted a request to the Austrian authorities to
find this out, so may well find this out myself).

--Who, if anyone, inherited their estate when Mariann died?

Please reply to David Bolchover (david@...).

Thanks!

Greetings...here in JewishGen land we are dedicated to making the
search easier by promoting better organization ( (want to find the
items quickly?) and research methodology (need to remember where you
got that piece of data?). Our classes are detailed on
www.jewishgen.org/education

Organize & Research Online (starting April 21st) is for advanced
beginners who have used Ancestry and other online databases and still
have questions or want to really organize information. It focuses on
your immigrant ancestors and their immediate families in the United
States. See the full description of the lessons etc on
http://www.jewishgen.org/education/description.asp?course=40046
Highlights: Lessons are read/downloaded at your own pace; this is a
one on one personal mentoring program where students post an ancestral
branch, set goals for their research, and work with the instructor
24/7

We also offer one of our Basic courses, Lets Get Organized in May.
This text based course with daily exercises is part of the Value-Added
Services program, and we waive the tuition for those who have
contributed $100 to our general fund within the last 12 months....And
we're planning a May Value Added Class for the new Belarus Website!

Notes: The sedar can be a wonderful opportunity to exchange
information and encourage family interest. Also, consider the 5 minute
videos on navigating JewishGen and its key databases on the bottom of
the education page (http://www.Jewishgen.org/education)

happy hunting!
