Yefim Kogan

Dear researchers,

I am finishing second reading of Beltsy Cemetery, part 3. It includes 1140
records with photos. We have already completed first part of 400 records
with photos and also a set of records without photos.

The records will be sent soon to JewishGen JOWBR.

It is time soon to pay the photographer for the work done. I am asking for
your donations for Beltsy Cemetery project. Please find that project among
the JewishGen-erosity - Bessarabia SIG Projects. Your donations of $25,
$50, $100 will help a lot!

Ariel Silverstone <arielsilverstone@...>

As a never-before seen item (by me), several records of my family's Book of
Residents' (Piaseczno, Masovian, Poland) entries include Height comment. Would
anyone know what that means?

her height was determined according '15 no 5 of instruction. Similar comments in
other entries.

Thank you,

1932 Beheading in Austria? #general

Miunthel -

Dear Genners:
My grandfather told my father that when he was living in Austria, he stepped
out of a theater that was showing Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He said that as he
exited a theater, he witnessed a beheading, perpetrated by mounted men.
Passenger manifests show him heading to Vienna in 1932 - and the Frederic March
version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde was released that year. I cannot seem to find
any reference to the beheading online or in newspapers >from that year. I'd like to
be able to verify the story with some sort of historical source. Are any
of you familiar with such an event?

Thank You!

UK National Archives - assistance/advice #unitedkingdom

Robert Fraser

Dear friends -

Some advice sought please, or maybe some physical
assistance.

I made an FOI application for a Home Office document in the
National Archives, which I believe relates to an uncle and
aunt of mine. It was granted, subject to part of it being
redacted. I now have an estimate for photocopying the
document.

What I need to know is if the people are really 'mine'. The
names are correct. The date of birth of one of them is
correct (at least the year of birth is) but the other is
not. So I would really like to be able to look at the
document to see if they are my relatives before spending
over a hundred quid on having the document copied and posted
out to me. Obviously, I can't do this myself and I don't
know anyone in London who could.

Is there a way of checking that they are my relatives?
Alternatively, is it possible to ask if anyone going to the
Archives could take a quick (or otherwise) look at the
documents to see who they refer to? Can one contact an
archivist to confirm or deny the information provided?

If anyone is able and willing to visit the Archives (please
don't go specially!), please contact me off-list and I'll
give you references and details.

Thanks and chag sameach

MORRIS and GLASSMAN #unitedkingdom

aajacobus@...

I am seeking help in solving genealogical problem concerning my grandfather's second wife  Deborah Glassman ( aka as Deborah  Morris on the marriage certificate ) born ca 1853 in Poland

She married my grandfather Abraham Jacobs in 29-Apr-1903 at the E. London Synagogue. She died 21 July 1904. She was the widow of Hyman Glassman born ca 1853 in Poland.

Her 1903 Beth Din marriage permit mentions "  a daughter" . She presumably had other children .
Her first previous  husband Hyman Glassman died  21/08/1902 and his stone (Edmonton )  mentions "children and grandchildren". The question is who where they ?
The 1901 census 16 Spelman St  Whitechapel shows no Glassman children living with them all married presumably.   I do not see the Glassman family on the 1891 census
Glassman is a fairly uncommon name so I hope some on this list may have information .
