Old Cemetery Zarnow Poland #poland

Abraham Rolnitsky <rolnitsky@...>

Hi
Zarnow Poland ancestors! We need your help!

I am looking for ancestors >from Jewish people buried in the old Jewish
cemetery of Zarnow Poland.

I paid for someone to get their to take a look on the condition of the
cemetery where me great parents (The Rolnicky Family) buried there, The
outcome of the report i got is that the cemetery is in very bad
condition, urgent restoration and care needed immediately, due to a real
estate market uprising in the area the cemetery is in a real serious
danger of destruction if nothing will be done in the earliest future!!

If you know someone who have any interest in is willing to participate
with us please contact me, i will share with you more details and
pictures

Thanks

Location: Lazy ad Poreba, etc #poland

Marilyn Robinson

I am trying to understand:

1. exactly where "Lazy ad Poreba" was in 1904-05. Online I see that
"Lazy" had been part of the Krakow Voivodeship at one time. And, a
Poreba-Koceby was in Ostrow Lomza in the early 1900's. But I can't find
any place labeled "Lazy ad Poreba". A possible relative, Salomea Weiser,
was listed as a property owner in "Lazy ad Poreba" , in a 1904-05
Galicia property owners list (former owner, Izak Plessner and 12
others).

2. What/where is" L ka, czesc (wyk. 1. 827 i 833". It is a location
listed for "Kiwa i Mindel Wieser" (former owner, Dawid Hermansdorfer)
from the same resource as above. Would this be two properties numbered
827 and 833 someplace?

What's In A Name? #poland

Marilyn Robinson

Hi All,
I just acquired the address for a great uncle who lived in Tarnow,
Austria/Poland. It was written as:
Tarnow, Pogwizow (Barracks), Poland. Is Pogwizow a street name or
something else? Why write "Barracks"?

info on Ryasna,present-day Drybin district #belarus

Joel Blankett <jnblank@...>

Dear fellow researchers,
I'm trying to locate genealogically relevant data sources relating to
the Jewish population of the town of Ryasna (/Riasna/R'asna), before WW I.
(To be precise, I'm referring to the Ryasna located some 60 km east of
Mogilev/Mahilyow, currently in the Drybin district - not the one near
Vitebsk).

My maternal grandfather, Yechiel Daviv MIRMOVITSCH was born in this town
in 1881. He left Ryasna when conscripted to the Russian Army, and later
settled in Helsinki, Finland.

If you have been able to find any relevant information on pre-WW I
Ryasna, I would be very grateful if you would share this information
with me.

Lithuania SIG #Lithuania 19TH CENTURY TRAVEL #lithuania

Sara Manobla

Hello LitvakSigers

I am looking for clues to the journey my grandfather made in 1890. He left
from his shtetl Zagare on the Lithuania/Latvia border and joined his
brothers in Antwerp, Belgium. How would he have travelled? A family
legend holds that he travelled in winter and crossed over the ice-bound
Baltic. Could it have been by boat >from Riga? Or >from Jelgava? Or
overland? Any ideas, anecdotes, suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Segal, Aron <Aron.Segal@...>

I have placed on ViewMate a photographs taken in Zagare in 1928 or 1929.

This photograph shows a group of young men and women >from Zagare in
Lithuania. At the time they would have been aged in their very late
teens or early 20s.

Perhaps there are people in these photographs that somebody out there can
recognise and name.

If so, I would be thrilled to hear back >from you on this.

The document is on ViewMate at the following address.

My father Hirsh SEGAL is top row third >from right.

Hirsh left for Melbourne Australia in 1929.

Please respond via the form provided in the ViewMate application.
