Gesher Galicia is saddened by the sudden death of our longtime member
Dr. Karl Seligman on Friday night, December 13, 2013.

Karl was the beloved husband of Jo Mintz-Seligman; father of Dean
Seligman, Dan Seligman, David (Adriana) Seligman, and Susan Collins
Hamilton; grandfather of three and great-grandfather of one.

He was a hard-working and devoted participant in many Galician
indexing projects, especially those involving Zbaraz and Tarnopol
Holocaust-era records. On the Tarnopol death records he contributed
meticulously to working out what the stated causes of death were and
what the present-day medical terms for them would be. Once a project
was finished, he would also ask if there was more work he could do. He
said that he had benefited >from the genealogical research conducted by
others, and he wanted to pay things back.

He was also a member of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Los Angeles
and had only recently attended our December Hanukkah Party. He will
be missed by many of us in the genealogical community. May his memory
be a blessing.

Hi,

To all who have written me, thank you so much for your help! I believe
I may have stumbled on to the answer but I have yet to find the
conclusive evidence for it. I found a Morris and Fannie HORN living
with someone who appears to be my g-g-g grandfather in the 1905 NY
Census at an address right nearby to 1952 2nd Ave. (this was the
correct address as I misread Ave. as Str.).

Problem is I lose track of this Morris and Fannie before 1900 and
after 1920. I think Fannie died between 1920 and 1930 but I can't find
a death record that would fit.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated again.

I have an 1860 death record for Katharina SUCKY in Triesch that's bothering
me. It gives her "father", but in an odd way: it say "Tochter nach dem
Triescher Familiengehörigen Bernhard Suchy". Usually it should say "Tochter
von dem ....", indeed that's what it does say for all the other people. Has
anyone else seen this anywhere? Could it mean she was an adopted child? Or
his child with another woman and then adopted (he was married)?

In the course of building my family tree I have tracked my paternal
great grandfather, Henry EHRLICH, as having been born in Austria, the
ship his wife and he were on coming to the USA, and his death
certificate.

I also learned that my paternal grandfather, Simon Ehrlich, noted a
"cousin" Harry Ehrlich.

My current goal is to try and learn Henry Ehrlich's parents' names.
I obtained his father's name, Joseph Ehrlich, >from Henry's death
certificate, but have no details of his mother's name or anything.

If I can learn that, I can try to then learn of Henry's siblings, one
of which should lead me to a child named Harry.

I have emailed a couple locations in Austria per a web search >from the
results of records found on ancestry.com, my present home-base for my
tree.

I have come up empty for any further details of Henry's parents. I
know almost everything else about him through Ancestry.com's found
records.

As an aside, most of my family >from the late 1800's to present ended
up in the Massachusetts, USA area (where I am from). I did recently
find Henry's grave site at a cemetery my parents have frequented with
my father's parents and Henry's wife.

Any help/insight/details anyone can offer about Henry Ehrlich, born
November 6, 1872 in Stanislawow, L'viv, Ukraine and of his wife,
