Finding Moyzek
#france
Ken Drabinsky <kenjdgen@...>
I wish to thank all those terrific researchers who have been so
actively helping me search for information on my father's first cousin-Moyzek BOGU(S)LAWSKI. (Sept. 2). Your many suggestions and ideas gave me new avenues of research for following up. In the end, it was really Benoit Perrot, the kind gentleman >from France who took the original pictures of the Arthonnay Memorial who went out of his way to actually capture the picture of Moyzek's final burial marker at Necropolis The National Farm Suippes' major war cemetery in France. In addition, he sent me a detailed "play by play" of Bataille d'Arthonnay, additional articles on the event June 16/17, 1940 and connected me to the son of another soldier who fought and died in the same event. According to local Arthonnay authorities, the bodies were removed from the trenches in 1947 (courtesy of Eva Line Blum), and of course, Moyzek was marked on a cross in a "common burial" location at Suippes. I am presently inquiring whether these are actual burial location or just markers. Thanks again for all your assistance. If anyone out there requires any additional information please contact me and I would be happy to share information. Best regards, Ken Drabinsky Calgary Canada |

searching for descendents of Sarah Zolkewitz (nee Bedno) from Zambrow(?)
#general
Sandy Levin
Sarah ZOLKEWITZ would be my great aunt by marriage. At the time
of her marriage, her name was Bedno. It is possible she was born Bednovitch, probably in Zambrow. She had a sister Ann (Chana) who was my grandmother. She had three brothers Jake (Jacob), Julius, and Morris. All three brothers are buried in Waldheim Cemetery in Chicago. Their father's name was Hersh Tzi (or Tzi Hersh, depending onwhich tombstone you look at!). I have very little information on this branchof my family. I do have photos including a picture and note in Yiddish >from a Benjamin Bednovitch send >from Poland to "Srul" in the early 1900s. I would be happy to send you the photo, the back and the translation and my bar mitzvah pictures of the Bedno "boys" if you have any connection to this family that you can share with me. FELIXSON family manifests
#general
Ken Falkson <mokmanrs@...>
Hello all. I have been searching for the manifests of the immigrant
members of the FELIXSON family of Cleveland, Ohio in hopes that they might be related to me, but have not been having any luck. Perhaps another set of eyes will see what I have missed. My information is based on the naturalization papers of the father Max and eldest son Lewis. The father Max FELIXSON was born in Borisov, Russia on 8/15/1871. His last foreign residence was London and he emigrated from Liverpool, via Canada, on 1/10/1900, arriving in New York on1/28/1900. The ship name is marked as "unknown". I could only find one vessel out of Liverpool arriving at the end of January 1900, the Teutonic, but Max does not appear to be on board. Max is in New York City, with family, on the 1905 census, and shows up in Cleveland on the 1910 census. Max's eldest son, Lewis FELIXSON, was born 7/25/1897 in Suwalki, Poland. His last foreign residence was Poland and he emigrated >from Rotterdam on 5/15/1901 on the ship Rotterdam, arriving in New York on 5/30/1901. There is a record for the Rotterdam arriving in New York on 5/13/1901 but I could not identify Lewis amongst the passengers. The Rotterdam does not return to New York until 6/16/1901 so the date of 5/30/1901 is a little perplexing. I believe it is likely he traveled with his mother and younger sister, who also arrive in either 1901 or 1902. His mother Anna PEARSTEIN was born 7/10/1876 in Suwalki and his sister Esther on 8/1/1899 also in Suwalki (an Ohio death record for Esther puts her birth at 7/25/1895). Assuming that Lewis did travel with his mother and sister, I next looked for a family consisting of a mother aged about 25 and a son and daughter aged about 4 and 2. There seems to be no such family onboard the Rotterdam. I also searched for a similar family amongst all of the immigrants >from Suwalki for the year 1901 and could not find a match. If anyone has the time to look into this I would appreciate your input. finding a missing grave

Hi Genners
After many years of searching I finally found what I believe to be the death certificate of my GGGF Raphael SEIDER. He was born in Kursenai, Lithuania in approximately 1841 He lived in Manchester, UK between the early 1890s and early 1900s (appearing in the 1901 census and 1903 City Directory He had two sons who lived in East London and a daughter who lived in Dublin. He had another daughter who lived in Manchester and Liverpool He had a nephew who lived in Dublin at that time with his wife and several children named Bernard. The death certificate I have found is >from Dublin and he died on 28th June 1905. The only inconsistency is that the death cert says that the deceased was a bachelor when I know that my ancestor was married, but the name, age - expected year of death based on the date and name of his grandson - and profession all match with what I know about him. I would very much like to find out where he was buried or if there were any announcements of his death in the Dublin, Liverpool, London or Manchester Jewish press. If anyone can point me in the direction of where I might find this information it would be much appreciated. Thanks as always and Shana Tova Ben Ben Forman Manchester UK,(currently exiled in London) searching: BENSON: Hasenpoth/Courland; BERNSTEIN/WEINER: Ylakai; CAHN/CAHEN/WOLF: Zuendorf/Bruhl/Lechenich/Ahrweiler; FURMAN: Kaluszyn; GEVER: Daugavpils/Dvinsk; SAWADY: Zavadi,Posen; |
