DUSCHINSKY

I have been researching DUSCHINSKY in the birth records of
Pozsonynádasd/Trstin. Although the 1848 Jewish census of Nadasd shows Aron Duschinsky and his wife Lea (Schück) with Sons Gabriel, Salamon, Israel, Josef, Markus and Leopold, it is definite that Gabriel (born about 1827) was actually the son of a Simon Duschinsky, who died young. Likely Simon was a brother of Aron, but it is not certain. Likewise, I find no Israel in the records at all, but there is a Joakim, born about 1831, who was also the son of the same Simon. It appears to me that Israel is most likely Joakim in the records, and is the the son of Simon, rather than Aron. Lending credence to this theory is that when Israel married in Paks in 1860, his father is not named (suggesting that he was deceased). Aron, on the other hand, died in 1873 in Nadas, so if he were the father of Israel, he should have been named in the marriage record. Has anyone else studied these particular records in detail? I'm responding to your Email posting on Ukraine SIG but not about the initial inquiry. My family comes >from the StaroKonstantinov area (shtetlach within 25 miles radius, such as Ostropolya, Lyubar, etc.) I visited the area in 1992 and visited various ZAGs offices that seemed to relate to that area, including Zhitomir, Staro Konstantinov, etc. We found no records. Your recent response suggested that people contact the "oblast archives to look for metric records." How do I do that? Also how do I "turn to different on-line sources." What do you mean by that? Larry Horwitz, Southfield, Michigan Cc: to others. This is my first time responding to Ukraine SIG. I'm sure I've not done this properly. Please advise. --------------- Subject: Re: My Liptzen, Lipzin, Saltzman,Family From: Igor Holyboroda <iholybor@...> Date: Sat, 07 Sep 2013 09:00:44 +0300 X-Message-Number: 1 Hello! Khotyn is in Chernivtsi oblast now, Kupin - in Chmelnitsky oblast of the Ukraine. Providing research in the Ukraine it is worth to start with turning to the corresponding oblast archives to look for metric records. You may also turn to different on-line sources. regards, Igor Holyboroda Moderator's Note: 1. Look at Miriam Weiner's Routes to Roots website at http://www.rtrfoundation.org/search.php to see where to find records for Staro Konstantinov. It lists 7 different records groups and tells you where to find them. 2. Be sure to look at Ukraine SIG's website at http://www.jewishgen.org/Ukraine/default.asp for research guidance. |

KOHN from Oderberg / Bohumin

Dear All,
I am researching my great-grandmother family. KOHN Wilhelm / Vilmos (1841-?) and FRANK Jozefin (1847-1914) were living in Oderberg / Bohumin >from 1873~ to 1880. Their youngest daughter Berta was born in Oderberg 1875 (source: marriage record). KOHN Wilhelm died there (~ 1875) but I have no idea how to find records about those events. I found the family in O-Kormocske / Kremnicka Slovakia in 1891 and later on in near by town Kremnica and Budapest. Esther Levinson Beer Sheva, Israel Researching KOHN in Bohumin |
