Searching: PICK-SCHUHMANN-TERRY family, London
#unitedkingdom
Dick@...
I am looking for the family of Edith PICK, a cousin of my
father-in-law, whom I visited 30 years ago somewhere in north London. She was born in 1908, and when I met her she was already long widowed from Klaus Pick. They had one daughter Evelyn, born 1930, an optician.Evelyn married Werner SCHUHMANN and had Marion in 1957 and Jacquelyn in 1958. Werner died in 1961, and Evelyn remarried Jack TERRY and had Nicola in 1963. I met Evelyn and Jack when I visited Edith. I believe they lived south of the Thames, but not sure where. I've just learned that in addition to Edith Pick's having been a cousin of my father-in-law, her husband Klaus was related to my mother-in-law. I would welcome any information about this family or suggestions about how to locate them. Dick Plotz Providence, Rhode Island, USA Dick@... |

Gross Family From Soborsin
#hungary
ilan.kozma@...
Dear all
I spend a wonderful week in Budapest , visiting my aunt and cousins, and looking at old family photos and documents. Doing this I observed a fact which I have not thought of before. Where did my great aunt Szidy and family disappeared. Szidonia Gross (nee Schwartz) my mother's aunt was in correspondence with her brother(My grandfather) until 1939. There are photos of her, and children until this date. >from then- nothing. None of the family knows anything. She lived in Soborsin in the Arad county of Romania (I believe it is called Savarsin in Romania today) Born in Aug 20 1888, Married to Samu (born 1884) she had 3 children Adolf, Vera and Ference born in 1908, 1909 and 1927 respectively. The older Adolf was married and had a child. All of them disappeared(In family records) without leaving a trace. Does anybody know what happened to the Soborsin community in the holocaust? I do not even know if it was annexed to Hungary in 1940. Part of Arad was, but I think that not this part. Any help, hints and suggestions will be welcome. Ilan Kozma Tel Aviv |

budapest cemeteries question

I was checking the list of cemeteries that are on the JOWBR for H= ungary and there are only a few precious few. Also I noticed that none of= the cemeteries in Buda or Pest (or Obuda for that matter) have been photog= raphed or indexed. The JOWBR does not accept individual entries rather o= nly whole cemeteries or whole sections. It seems to me that there is so = much foot traffic to Budapest and the cemeteries that while photographing a= n entire cemetery would be a daunting task for anyone--if we use "salami ta= ctics" (to borrow a metaphor >from Hungarian history) i.e. being organized a= nd having people take pictures of whole sections one by one then slowly but= surely we could add more and more records and G-d willing complete the tas= k eventually.=A0 In the meantime I am sure the records posted would be of g= reat interest to all and many. Please let me know of comments and or inte= rest. all the best. eric |

Dear SIG,
I have located an entry for a Stammbaum at the Kartographisches Institut Wien. Searches for this organization come up with some web sites that don't seem to be related to family history or an archive. Can anyone provide some guidance as to where these records are located? Stammbaum der Familie *Groedel* (1926) 3. verbess. Aufl. nach Baron A R. von Groedel. Kartographisches Institut Wien  I have also sent a request to the austriaczech SIG with no replies. Hopefully someone here can help. Thank you! Jerry Zeisler Leesburg, Virginia USA |
