of Germany and Poland), was the subject of punishment bombings at the immediate
commencement of the Second World War. It was devastatingly bombed three times and
very few of its residents and little of its buildings (including the historic

available images of pre war life >from the town but those we have been able to find

Polish Jews (www.jewishmuseum.org.pl ) - which will be opening in 2013. The museum

I am therefore sending out this appeal for images and stories of life in
Dzialoszyn. If you do originate >from the town, or know of anyone who does, and have
any material related to pre-war life in Dzialoszyn I would be hugely pleased to

Johannah LYONS, family records indicate that she was born on 16 May
1848 in Freischbach, Germany. Several people have suggested that

I have recently received a number of hand-written official birth,
marriage and death registration documents >from Poland, some of which
are written in Russian. These show two dates for events, using both
the Julian and the Gregorian date systems. I have Googled for
background information and have a limited understanding of when,
where, and how the changes took place.

I would welcome suggestions as to how the dates should be recorded in
my genealogy database: do I use the earlier date (as being
historically correct) with the later date in a Notes field, or is
there another way which will be easy to understand for current
families. So far, the two dates (around 10 days apart) appear to fall
within the same year.
