Could it be Kaschau? Sometimes n and u look alike in the old handwriting. It is north of Oradea, Cluj, and Tasnad and not unreasonable travel. Now in Slovakia, it was part of the Austrian-Hungarian

There is a city that was in Hungary in the 19th century – Kassa, Kaschau, Kosice. (My grandmother was from there.) It’s now in eastern Slovakia. But I don’t think it has anything to do
