It’s a very Russian thing to do but as far as I know not a ceremony. Those berries were hard to come by and labor intensive. It showed love and respect to serve the berries

If I had looked a bit further I could have seen that what I read as an 'i' was in fact a 't' which makes it a Matrikelschein, in translation 'a registration form/card'.

As all my knowledge about Zeev Wolf Landau comes from the book The Unbroken Chain Vol 3, and there no mention is made of any Tiktin, I can unfortunately not help you any further.

I recently learned from an online seminar presented by the JGSGW that children born on ships going to the US were listed on the last page of the ship’s manifest. If you can find that, it might help.
