Make a request at Find a Grave. All you have to do is ask the photographer to take a clear picture of the reverse side of the stone. I've done that several times. Just go to the person's memorial.

It is the Certificate of Arrival number used to prove date of emigration needed for the US Naturalization Petition. The date on the passenger gives you an idea of when the person naturalized.
