Dear People,

I have just found tucked inside the calculus notebook of 1915 kept by my
father, Hyman Isaac Feldman, two lined pages he wrote, very neatly and
laboriously (as distinguished >from the "mature" cursivivness of the calculus
notes).

The pages are dated February 13, and February 17, 1908, when, I know
from his graduation program, he was in attendance at P.S.64, then located at
Avenue B and Ninth Streets on the Lower East Side. He wrote these pages while
he was in class 5B.

The first page is in the form of a letter he apparently never sent,
perhaps because it was part of a school exercise. It is addressed to "Dear
William," and invites him to Hyman's eleventh birthday celebration at his
house. A softball game in a park was planned after the party. Other invitees
were an Abe Dongelberg and a Charlie Wiess.

The second page was an account of a baseball game. during which "a young
athlete named Max Gross gets up to the bat" and "hit the ball so far that it
bounced over the fence" which "caused him to make a home run."

I hope these tidbits provide clues to some of you.

As for me, the boon of finding these two pages was that on one of them I
found my father's home address, 437 East 10th Street. I am especially pleased
because a year of message exchanges with the "competent administrators" of the
New York City School System proved fruitless. ( None of them even knew where
the original P.S. 64 was located!)

Looking for info concerning my GP's ROBERT EICHWALD Germany>Philadelphia
(b) 1860? (d) 11/99 & EMILIE MATHILDA MEYERHOFF Medebach,
Westphalia>Philad. (b) 5/9/1965.

I have absolutely no info on the EICHWALD family prior to my GF's
Declaration of Intention (1886). I do know that there was a JULIUS
EICHWALD in Phila. >from 1852 on and that the City Directories show that
he lived very near where my Grandfather lived.

I do know that ROBERT EICHWALD was living with a SIMON EICHENGRUN at the
time of his naturalization (1889) and that this address is a block away
from an EMANUEL MEYERHOFF (a relative of my GM) during the same year.
I very much want to find out where in Germany my Grandfather came >from -
I am guessing Westphalia?

T.I.A. for any help! Martie

When I was viewing the 1920 Census, my aunt was listed as being 4
7/12...so I finally realized. The "7" was not clear and I was
trying to \figure out qwhat "4 /12" was....
Hello -
I have seen this to mean that the child is 7 months of age or 4 months
as the case may be. It shows up fairly often on some of the 1901
Canadian Census Schedules.

I've been told by family that a relative, Chana RUBINSTEIN
(daughter of Mendel RUBENSTEIN of Vilna) immigrated to the
U.S. probably between 1912 and 1917 at the age of 16-18 yrs.
of age. This is all the information I have. I'm a new reseacher,
and am trying to sort out the best way to find her or her
descendents, i.e. what government documents are also listed by
_Maiden Names_(as she probably married) and or _Father's Name_.
What would be the best way to start? Thanks for any help.

Good morning everyone. I need some help. My wife's great uncle was Maurice
DREYFUS born in Louisiana (probably Grand Coteau) in 1857, In the late 1870s
he left the family that was then living in Galveston. There is a record of a
marriage in New Orleans between a Maurice DREYFUS and Pauline HIRSCH on 16
April 1877. She was the daughter of Louis HIRSCH. Maurice later was known to
have been in San Salvador at least by 1909. We have a postcard >from him in
that year and the signatures on the marriage recording and the card are very
similar.

Does anyone know about this family or perhaps the Louis HIRSCH family of New
Orleans. This is particularly exciting because I may have their photograph and
if anyone had either of their photographs we could compare. This has been a
long standing puzzle for me. Your help is greatly appreciated.

850, when the Mongols overran it.
