Hi Diana,
When we visited non Jewish relatives in Germany several years ago they showed us a document >from the Hitler era to show they did not have jewish ancestry. They had to research and prove their Aryan ancestry back to the 18th century. The document was approved by the state. I don't know what other countries where this was required but I was shocked when I saw it. So Yes, this was true. Is this just a myth or is it true? If true, which countries were affected?

[Required] proving [of non-Jewish] ancestry in Nazi Europe?
#germany
I have heard it stated that in some countries overrun by the Nazis,
local populations were required to prove their lack of Jewish ancestry by producing their own family trees. Is this just a myth or is it true? If true, which countries were affected? Regarding Germany, I don't think this was the case but perhaps it might have been in some areas? All ideas welcome on this issue! gebhardsdorf to georgenthal

hi,
tracing my mothers holocaust history and would appreciate any advice where i might find the following information 1. jews on train transports during summer 1944 >from auschwitz to gebhardsdorf (giebultow, poland) 2. a list of jews at gebhardsdorf camp sometime between summer 1944 and jan 1945 3. list of jews at georgenthal, czechoslovakia after January 1945 (assume this is sankt georgenthal in Jietn pod Jedlovou, Czechia) 4. when did Russians liberate georgenthal camp. 5. any information on what work jews did at gebhardsdorf and georgenthal camps. also living conditions and other information that might be available. my mother was in radom poland work camps, then ostrowiec, auschwitz, gebhardsdorf, georgenthal there is a confusion in her testimony on the order of the last two camps. She was in a death march in winter 1945 for 3 days, and that fits 18 jan 1945 westward death march from gebhardsdorf. She was liberated >from the Russians in may 1945 Hope to details to fully document my mothers history. She also was in work camps in radom, poland prior to ostrowiec. My next hope is to find details there. Her name was Sura Frydman but went by Sala Frydman. I have searched much online, but hopefully there is a specific resource that someone knows regarding the above items. appreciate the advice and guidance. regards, arnold friedman

Hiding in the 1940 census
#general
Barbara Mannlein <bsmannlein@...>
I need help locating Mary Mannlein ROTHSCHILD in the 1940 census.
Widowed and too ill to work, she lived in the Home for Aged and Infirm Hebrews in Manhattan. Born 1878, in Bavaria, she died in 1942. Her death cert indicates the home was at 121 West 105th Street. I've searched: both FS and A, both Manhattan and Bronx, using wild cards, under both maiden and married name using Steve Morse's ED finder (31-983) Maybe I'm not using it correctly? The FindAGrave entry was made by me. **Help!** Barbara Stern Mannlein Tucson, AZ bsmannlein@comcast.net
