I am posting 4 records in Polish and would very much appreciate your help in
translating and extracting information.

1. http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=15857

This is a snip of a marriage record. The bride is Ryfka Miedziogorski, daughter
of Eliazar Miedziogorski and Hana. On the second line you can see the name "Hana"
at the end of the line followed by another word. Is this Hana's surname? Can you
read this word, please? If you are able to extract anything else of importance
on this record, I would appreciate it.

2. http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=15858

This is the death record of Elias Miedzygorski - 1842. I would like to know the
surname of his wife, Hana and anything else about her. She is mentioned on line
10. I would also like to know the information given on line 9 about the parents
of Elias - Herszl and Dwoyra - especially Dwoyra's surname, if mentioned. I know
the 4 children of Elias and Hana are mentioned on line 11 (Aron, Szaje, Sura and
Ryfka), but is there any other information of importance in this document?

3. http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=15860

This is the birth record of Herszl Miedziogorski - 1826. I am trying to find more
information on Herszl's parents, Elias and Hana, especially Hana's surname and
parents. I can see Elias is mentioned on line 3 and Hana is mentioned on line 10.
Is there an exact birth date? Is there anything else of importance on this record?

4. http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=15861

I believe this is the death record of Dwoyra Miedziogurski (1826-1832). Please
could you translate it?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

In Canada: Salamon (Solly) Wenger? #general

Ann Linder

to genners in Canada -

can someone help me to locate, in Canada, a Holocaust survivor by the name of
Salamon (Solly) WENGER? I'd like to track down an address & telephone. He
submitted a Yad Vashem victim testimony on his mother Gitel Wenger who was my
grandfather's sister-in-law. The address on the testimony is xxx Laurier Ave W
in Ottowa KIR TT1. Salamon may be in his 80s or deceased & in that case I would
like to contact his descendants.

I have tried canada 411 on-line phonebook--the one entry in Ontario is not correct.
There are aprox. 13 more entries in various Canadian locations, and if I have to
I will write to each of those.

thank you for any help you can offer me in this search.

Searching for my cousins - CRYSTAL/KRYSZTAL #france

scrapbasket@...

Hello everyone. My name is Sara CRYSTAL and I am still searching for
my missing cousins. I know that some of my family survived the Shoah.
Our family history in brief: my grandfather Joseph CRYSTAL was >from
Warsaw, Poland and immigrated to Montreal, Canada and then Newark NJ,
in 1904 to escape the draft. He had 2 brothers, George (Gedalja) and ???
that also left, probably a sister too. The rest of the family stayed in
Warsaw, were in the Warsaw Ghetto, and mostly died. There were a few
survivors who went to Paris and Israel after the war.the Polish spelling
of the name would be KRYSZTAL or KRISTAL or similar variation, I have
seen it spelled many ways.

One brother went to Paris and was successful as a jeweler until the Shoah.
I think he was older. Another female relative, possibly a sister, was
with him. My grandfather's older brother, George CRYSTAL/Gedalja KRYSTAL
was in Newark NJ and had a successful jewelry business also.

I have found some cousins here and many possible relatives in Europe
but never found the birth info in JewishGen/JRI-Poland, or confirmed
descendants of these missing cousins. I have various names but it has
not all fit together.

Anyone who can assist is welcome. Is there any registry of jewelers in
Paris at the turn of the century? does anyone know of the family of
chana KRYSZTAL-FRYSZDORF, a possible cousin who was a ghetto fighter
and survivor who went to NY and died in 1989? Apparently she worked
at YIVO.

Aare any of you missing cousins? I have an ambition to pool our research
on this distinguished family, find my cousins and meet and establish
some sort of records on this extended family. We were lost to each other
but we can still connect. I have written a few of you over the years but
not still connected with the missing >from Paris and Warsaw.

Thanks.

BOREK/BORUCH/BORG - WALSHTEIN - ZEMLER #lodz #poland

Joel Fetter <joel.fetter@...>

Hi

I am looking for information on my ancestors who lived in or near Lodz.

Shmuel Leib BOREK/BORUCH/BORG (b. 1830-40?, m. "Golda") had children
Mendel, Shimon, Beresh, Chanuch and Moshe Abbe (also spelled Moszek
Abe).

The eldest son Mendel had three children: Shlomo, Yosef and Chaskel.

The second son Shimon (b. 1860-70?) married Malka WALSHTEIN (sister of
Nacha BLUM nee WALSHTEIN). It appears that they might have lived in
Poddebice. They had children Rachel Laia, Moshe Alter, Chaskel Mayer,
Hinda, Freidl, Gittel, Reyzl and Chava.

Youngest son Moshe Abbe (b. 1865-70?) married Chaia Ruchla ZEMLER in
1888 in Glowno. (Chaia Ruchla was the daughter of Moshe and Rachel
ZEMLER). The couple lived in Glowno. They gave birth to: Yitzhak
(Icek), Fajge Frandla, Yochevit, Chaskel (Yecheskel), Reyzl, Gitl and
Rivke.

If anybody has information about this family, please get in touch.

Assistance interpreting a written place name #poland

Barbara Hershey <barbara.hershey@...>

Hello -

I am hoping one or more of you will offer your best interpretation of a
place name written on the manifest of a ship leaving Hamburg in 1891. I
have posted a section of the manifest that includes the Goldberg family.
Some names are there so you might see examples of the handwriting. On the
right of the image is the column where towns were written. This listing
is for my ggm and some of her children. I know at some point she and her
husband (my ggf) were associated with Radzyn Podlanski and Lukow which
were then "Russia-Poland" and now Poland. The direct link to that image is

Thank you for your suggestions or, dare I hope, certain answers about
what town/city is listed for them.

My paternal grandfather came >from Dabie, although he got married in Dobrzyn

Dear Genners,

I have been researching my family for the past 35 years, and only in
the past 3 years have I made some major breakthroughs. I now know the
dob, dod for the following people on my mother's side - but do not
know of any siblings or their descendents of my ggmother, ggfather.
I have found my 2 gcousins in Buenos Aires, both in their 80s and
their descendents. However, they fled Germany as small children and do
not know anything about their already deceased ancestors.

Samuel JACOBOWICZ was born 1.2.1863 in Odolanow (then Adelnau),
Poland. He was a merchant, died 13.7.1914 in Ballenstedt, is buried in
Halle/Saale, Germany, next to his wife Dorothea (Doris) Jacobowicz,
nee HAMMERSCHMIDT. She was born 5.12.1865 in Dobiegniew, Poland (then
Woldenberg, Prussia). They were married 1995 in Berlin and later moved
to Halle, where their three children were born. (Max, Ernst and
Heinz). Max (who had been partner in a large shopping complex in
Halle) fled to Buenos Aires together with his wife Gertrude need
BENJAMIN and two sons; Ernst fled to Italy and then India; and Heinz
fled to the US together with his wife Suzie nee HEIMANN. Dorothea died
16.4.1938 in Halle. She had her own milliner business.

Samuel's parents were (unknown) JACOBOWICZ, merchant and his wife
Bertha Jacobowicz nee TEICHMANN both in Odolanow, Poland. I do not
know their dob or dod or where they were born or if they had siblings.

Dorothea's parents were Daniel HAMMERSCHMIDT, a merchant, and his
wife Edlina Hammerschmidt nee RANSSNITZ, both in Dobiegniew, Poland. I
do not know their dob or dod or where they were born or if they had siblings.

I have listed my family in the JGFF but do not know how to proceed
from here to find out the missing information, or where to find out if
Samuel or Dorothea had any siblings, what happened to them and if they
have any descendents. The same applies to their respective parents.

If anybody 'out there' has any of these individuals in their family
tree, or knows wehre and how I could find the missing information,
please write to me privately.

children Mila and Eszter (b. 1926).

In 1944, they were in Szolyva and the children had been born there.

I am trying to ID the parents of Rosa, whom I assume is the Pickholz.

Does anyone know how I might find the 1926 birth record and is it likely
to show the mother's parents' names?

http://www.rtrfoundation.org shows birth records for 1876-1896 in
Uzhgorod.

Szolyva was in Hungary at some point, but is now known as Svalyava in
Ukraine. It is in the vicinity of Uzhgorod.
