Thank you for translation aid #general

gail billow <gspiegel2@...>

Dear All,

I am overwhelmed and awed by the outpouring of aid offered by many members of the
JewishGen community. I asked for your help in translating English into Ukrainian
and Polish into English. But, I never expected so many to come forward. "Thank
you" seems hardly enough. My gratitude and that of my family knows no bounds.

A special thank you goes to Leonid K. for his expertise, generosity and incredibly
prompt translation of my letter to an unknown cousin in Kiev who's mother, brother
and sister were massacred at Babi Yar in the Shoah.

I can't thank you enough,
Gail Billow

[MODERATOR NOTE: An appropriate thank you for the help one receives via JewishGen
is a donation to JewishGen in honor of those who have added your
quest. http://www.jewishgen.org/jewishgen-erosity/]

Search for descendants of Otto BRAUN in South America #general

Ed Zwieback <ezwieback@...>

We looking for the whereabouts of the descendants of Otto BRAUN, whose details
follow. Otto Braun, born 1901 in Vienna, was an archaeologist in Bolivia, and made
important finds in the nineteen twenties and thirties. After 1938, he would have
been joined in Bolivia by his mother Gisela Braun, born ZIRNER in 1878 in Hungary,
his brother, Robert Braun , born 1904 in Vienna, (who had a daughter called Maria)
and by Felix ZIRNER, born 1905 in Vienna, who died in Cochabamba in 1943. Gisela
and Robert Braun returned to Argentina, but we have reason to believe that Otto
remained there, possibly in Culpina-Camargo, Bolivia.

The Austrian government is anxious to return property belonging to the Braun family
that was taken >from them after 1938 and is presently in the Ethnographical Museum
in Vienna.

Looking for descendants of Schloime and Chine KAMIENIARZ #poland

Ann Linder

Looking for descendants of Schloime and Chine KAMIENIARZ.
Chine, age 28, came to USA with their daughter Zlata, age 7, on Jun 27, 1900.
The Kensington sailed >from Antwerp and Chine's final destination is
listed on the ship manifest as Cambridge Massachusetts.
Chine listed her last place of residence as Rowno. I can find no
trace of them after this trip.

(Only guessing here but the name KAMIENIARZ may eventually have been
changed to Stone, or Kamin or Kamien)

I have been doing research on my HASENLAUF ancestors >from Nowy Wisnicz

name "Abusch" on any Jewish name variations site. Is there a more familiar
alternative name for "Abusch"? I am trying to see if there is a naming

CNN television carried a segment on the revival of Jewish culture in
Poland, which includes a report of the Jewish Culture Festival Zachor
in Bialystok organized by Center of Education Poland Israel in
