Hello
Thank you so much to all the wonderful people who responded quickly
and wanted to help, sorry for not being able to answer one
individually.

I already got the help! The documents are in my hands. Thanks to Larry
Bassist.

Now I will need help translating them, but I will ask for a separate email.

Note: For those who recommended me to go to the LDS library, there is
no such directory in Israel (legal issues) so I was looking for
someone who lives close to an existing directory.

Hello,

I may indirectly know the couple that you are referring to.  I've tried to make contact, and will let you know if I have any success.  It might be helpful to have a few more details as to what you are trying to learn.

Need help finding information in Toronto, Canada

Dina Hill

Is there a death index in Canada that I can search?

I'm looking for Marvin H. Heller born around 1934 in Brooklyn, New  York.  My search took me to Toronto since there is no sign of him in the USA after he lived in Jacksonville, FL.  He married Jeannie P. Wong.  He had a few wives but Jeannie had a few last names: Jeannie W. Heller is also known as Jeannie P. Wong, Jeannie Pui Heller, Jeannie Pk Wong, Pui Kay Heller, and Jeannie Wong Heller.

I would appreciate the assistance.

Re: Who has access to the LDS library? (I need a microfilm)

Marion Werle

FamilySearch is indeed digitizing their microfilms, but as I understand it, it's an ongoing project which is not yet complete. However,  in this case, the films have been digitized (note the digital folder numbers), but must be viewed in a FamilySearch center.

Re: retrieving past messages to JewishGen SIG lists

Eva Lawrence

That's fine for  a short run of messages, but to search whether a topic has been covered any time in the past would involve  downloading a huge file. Is the whole archive of, say, GerSig,  messages still available on the new website, and if so, how does one access it?

Re: Who has access to the LDS library? (I need a microfilm)

Barry M Spinner

Possibly the author can be more specific in his request!  The "microfilm" mentioned is actually SEVEN rolls of Polish BDM records covering 5 decades.
Gmina żydowska, Międzyrzec Podlaski.  Given the timperiod,  they are likely in Russian.

Hello Esther,

The very  next issue of AVOTAYNU will carry my article on Jewish genealogical research in Cuba.  It will not give you exact names but will point you to resources that you might use to discover the information that you seek.  The issue should be arriving within two months, perhaps far less time.  Stay tuned.

My grandfather and great- grandfather #ukraine

JOE DAVIDSON <jmdavid@...>

My grandfather, Morris (Moishe)Davidson(Davidsohn) was born in Belaya Tzerkov, Kiev Gubernia, Ukraine on April 10, 1893. His tombstone indicates his father's name was David. There is a tombstone in the same cemetery that has a David Davidson (Davidsohn), born in 1870. This David emigrated in 1901. Morris emigrated in 1913. Is there a way I can look at a Ukranian census or other document to validate or invalidate the relationship between these two people?
