JASSELMAN and VISSOTSKY in Paris #france

RLS <rlsavin@...>

Hello,
I am helping a friend with his family history, and while I'm really
good at Ashkenazi research here in the US, I am having problems with
France research. My friend's great grandfather was Mardoche JASELMAN
born in 1859 (in Pinsk I think) and he died in Paris in 1949.

Mardoche JASELMAN married a Sarah VISSOTSKY who was born in 1868 and
died in 1936. We know no details about her except that Ann Rabinowitz
suggested that she might be part of the large WISSOTSKY family from
Russia that fled to Paris during the Russian Revolution. I would love
to be able to figure that out since we know nothing. Mardoche and
Sarah had a son named Judel JASSELMAN born in 1896-1953. He married a
Pauline GLASS born in 1907-1979. We are really trying to learn where
they all came from, how they survived the war while living in Paris
and if there is other family out there. I don't know how to navigate
the French archives online, especially since I don't speak French.

Do they exist on Ancestry or any other site?

Regards and thank you for your thoughts.

WALLACH family from Treysa Hesse germany #germany

Richard <r.d.oppenheimer@...>

Hello Fellow Members,

I am seeking information about two brothers who owned a haberdashery and
furniture store in Treysa, Schwalm-Eder District of Hesse Germany. Karl
WALLACH born 1875 and Moritz WALLACH born 1871. Moritz WALLACH had a son
Karl Heinz WALLACH born 1907.
The family emigrated to Palestine in the late 1930's. I am attempting to
find out the exact date of emigration of these three people. I have had no
success in finding emigration documents >from Germany or immigration into
Palestine.
Any knowledge of this family or suggestions where else to look would be
greatly appreciated.

Best Regards, Richard D. Oppenheimer r.d.oppenheimer@...

"Vermugens von Juden" #general

George Fogelson

In 1938 all German Jews had to complete a form listing their assets
and real estate holdings. It was known as the "Vermugens von Juden"
vom 18. Juni 1938. I am trying to locate a copy of the form my family
filled out in Berlin in 1938.

I contacted the Berlin Archives and they do not have copies. Can
anybody suggest where I could find a copy of the "Vermugens von Juden"
vom 18. Juni 1938 specifically for Berlin?

Many thanks,

Re: Question about given name of "Shere " #lithuania

David Ellis

Roy Ogus <r_ogus@...> writes:
My question is whether the name of "Shere" was a common given name
for a female that eventually was called "Sarah".

My g-gf's sister was named Sorka in Lithuania, a very common form of the
Hebrew Sarah. She is listed in various records in the All Lithuania
Database as Sorka, Serka, Sheril, Merel, Sherel and Sora.

Variations in given names between different records for the same person are
a quite common challenge we all have to deal with.
