Rabbi Moyse Aryeh schwabach #germany

Dear all,

As per French death registration on May 19 1808 in Bischheim, Bas-Rhin,
France, Rabbi Moyse Aryeh SCHWABACH
http://archives.bas-rhin.fr/detail-document/ETAT-CIVIL-C43-P1-R12681#visio/p
age:ETAT-CIVIL-C43-P1-R12681-2929312

married with Malka SCHWABACH (geboren SELIGMANN) who died at 65 years old,
had as parents Hirsch MANHEIM and Merle.

[Mod. note: the cited website is in French. My Chrome web browser
gave me a pretty good translation.]

I see on MyHeritage that the parents of Rabbi Moyse Aryeh SCHWABACH would
be Naftaly Hirsch KATZENELLENBOGEN married to Merle Katzenellenbogen
(geboren BERLIN), Naftaly being the son of R' Moses ben Shaul
KATZENELLENBOGEN, 2nd son

Are Hirsch MANHEIM and Merle the same persons as Naftaly Hirsch
KATZENELLENBOGEN married to Merle Katzenellenbogen (geboren BERLIN) and if
yes does anyone has the proof ?

Thanks, Joelle Meyer joelle.meyer24@...

MODERATOR NOTE: If the Rabbinic SIG is still operating, you should
also post your question there.

Reichsvereinigung der Juden: Letter R #germany

Lande

I have added an additional 1,980 names of German Jews whose family names
begin with the letter R to the Reichsvereinigung database, available at
Steve Morse's website under Holocaust records.

https://stevemorse.org/germanjews/germanjews.html

This brings the total of names to 23,072.

As is the case for the all these postings, in addition to family names, the
database may be searched by maiden name, place of birth or death, point of
emigration, e.g. Cuba, and factors such as suicide. The cards themselves
may be viewed on the International Tracing Service website, but in many
cases I have added information taken >from other sources.

Please feel free to contact me if questions arise regarding individual
names/information

Yizkor Book Project, January 2019 #scandinavia

Lance Ackerfeld <lance.ackerfeld@...>

Shalom,

I am continually touched and heartened by the number of people
dedicating their time to advance the Yizkor Book Project. As an
example, I recently received a number of messages >from people
interested in taking on the coordination of some of our
"coordinator-less" Yizkor Book projects, to help move them forward. If
you would like to know more about the coordination of a particular
Yizkor book, please feel free to contact me and I will explain what is
involved,

Last month saw several more projects being completed online and they were:

- "Memories >from Nowy-Dwor" relating to the community of Nowy Dwor
Mazowiecki, Poland which was ably coordinated by Debra Michlewitz.
- "We Want To Live" which is a book describing the arduous journey of
Jewish martyrs across Europe during World War Two. It was kindly
donated to us by the author's son - Joshua Rassen.

On a further welcome note, once again, the Yizkor Books in Print
Project have published another book: "Memorial Book of the Community
of Chorzel" on the community of Chorzele, Poland. The remarkable work
of the YBIP Project team continues ever onward, month by month.

I am also pleased to note that Meir Gover has generously allowed us
access to a 520 page Yizkor book he has prepared on the communities of
Dlugosiodlo and Poreba Koceby. We have added links in the listings of
these communities and, hence this book, in our Translations Index.

And now for the additions and updates are what we've carried out during
January:

Question on Ashkenazi admixtures #dna

richard may

Dear community,

On chromosome number 4, according to 23andMe, between six and eight
generations ago I have .2% subSaharan African ancestry, specifically
from West Africa: Senegal and Gambia.
In the chromosomal diagram this is indicated in red on the lower
chromosome, depicted at the point where the chromosome is indicated as
two joined pieces. On both sides of this red division point there are
much longer pieces of Ashkenazi DNA indicated with the color green.
On the other upper diagrammed chromosome piece the DNA is indicated by
the color blue to be entirely British and Irish.

Does the presence of larger pieces of Ashkenazi DNA on both sides of
the piece of subSaharan African DNA at the division point of the
diagram imply that I probably had an ancestor who was genetically half
Ashkenazi and half subSaharan African, perhaps fathered by a Jewish
trader?

Thank you for your kind erudite help!
