We have 50 attendees so far for the Austria-Czech SIG luncheon on
Wednesday, July 31. This may be the greatest confluence of experts we have ever had for our SIG, including prior speakers Thomas Fuerth, Julius Mueller, and Vaclav (Fred) Chvatal), this year's first-time attendees Johannes Reiss of the Austrian Jewish Museum in Eisenstadt, Traude Triebel, chief Jewish contributor to GenTeam.at, and our luncheon speaker Yitzhak Stroh, an expert on the seven holy communities of the Burgenland. If you are hoping to attend, please reserve your spot now. You won't be admitted to the luncheon without a lunch ticket. (Those are the conference rules, and they never make exceptions.) You have to go to https://www.iajgs2019.org. Go to the Registration tab. Select Update Your Registration & Info. Log in with the password they sent you when you registered the first time. Then page through to the fourth page (click Continue three times) until you get to the page with all the luncheons. Find Austria-Czech and then select which meal you want at the luncheon. Note that the online registration system will close on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at 11:59 pm CDT. After that, you won't be able to reserve luncheon tickets. So once again, if you think you may want to attend the Austria-Czech SIG luncheon, please register immediately on the iajgs2019.org website. Randy Schoenberg Austria-Czech SIG Coordinator

Leopold KRAUS and his Daughter Camille in Port Said
#austria-czech
Abuwasta Abuwasta
Dear Siggers,
I am an old member of Galicia SIG but a newcomer to Austria-Czech SIG. I am trying to find out details about Leopold KRAUS, who received a "Legion of Honor" >from Emperor Franz Jozef in 1849. His daughter Camille married Salomon ARZT in Port Said Egypt, who originated >from Jaroslaw, Galicia. Camille died at child birth at the end of 1890s/beginning of 1900s in Port Said. I have no idea whether Leopold lived in Austria itself or in Galicia. Many siblings of Salomon ARZT lived in Port Said, where his brother Simon established the famous Simon Arzt department store. Thanks in advance. Jacob Rosen Jerusalem
