Janette Silverman
Dear Friends:
Over the last several years (since 2013) I have been privileged to have worked with many talented volunteers at Ukraine SIG. We've had some great successes - our discussion group list has grown, we have a huge number of projects underway raising funds for acquisition, translating and cataloging documents, we still have a backlog of over half a million pages of documents waiting to be translated, have partnered with Yahad-in-Unum (don't forget that this summer's Ukraine SIG luncheon speaker at the IAJGS is a staff member of that phenomenal organization) and with the USHMM on various projects, a new way for vetting translators, and so much more. At this summer's IAJGS conference, I will be stepping down >from my post as Ukraine SIG Coordinator. I look forward to seeing many of you at this summer's conference at the IAJGS conferences for many years to come, as well as at talks I give all over the country. There are simply too many amazing people who have stepped up to the plate over these years to thank you individually, so I apologize for this mass thank you. Thank you for all your support and willingness to be part of the volunteer team. ViewMate Translation Request - Cyrillic
#ukraine
Dale Friedman
I have posted an image >from an internal Austrian empire passport,
which is in Cyrillic, on ViewMate. I would appreciate someone providing as full a translation as possible for me. http://www.jewishgen.org/viewmate/viewmateview.asp?key=VM72626 I do know that the passport is for a woman with the last name of KREITZER and her four children and that the passport is dated December 1st, 1911. I am particularly interested to know if the passport indicates the name of the town they are departing from. I believe that the family was >from either the district of Litin or Kamenets Podolski in the 1900s which are in current day Ukraine. Please respond via the form provided in the ViewMate application. Thank you very much, Dale Friedman Berkeley, California
