Mamaliga Blues is online
#bessarabia
Cassio Tolpolar <tolpolar@...>
Dear friends,
It's my pleasure to share the news that the English version of "Mamaliga Blues" is now available online (for a limited time). Many people wanted to watch the film but were not able to go to any public screenings or purchase its institutional DVD. "Mamaliga Blues" is a labor of love that took 9 years to be completed, so I am honored for your viewing and interest. I hope you find some enlightenment in our journey through time and history. https://mamaligablues.vhx.tv/ Thank you, Cassio Tolpolar

Hello, Jewishgenners. What kind of experiences have people had with finding
gravestones and records for ancestors who live in Zembin (Belarus) in the 19th century? I can confirm relatives having lived there in the 19th century of the family names ZISELMAN, FAITELSON and JAFFE. Thanks in advance, David Goldman NYC

Subject: Stuck: Jacob LEWIN birth Record From: Marjorie Geiser <margiegeiser@gmail.com> Date: Mon, 18 Feb 2019 17:14:10 -0700 Hi all, I THOUGHT when I found the marriage record for my grandfather's parents, that it would be an easy path to the record of his birth. But noooo. My grandfather was Jacob Levine (Lewin on his parents' marriage record in Warsaw), and we have his date of birth as 10 Apr 1902. His father's name was Isaac (Icek) Lewin and his mother's is Sura Telca Zylbernagel (in US, it was Silbernagel, and Silver). I have searched JewishGen, JRI-Poland, Ancestry.com, Family Search. I have found when he came to the US, which was 1906. But I can't find the record of his birth, nor the record of his two older sisters, Elizabeth, born ~ 1898, and Helena, born 1900. One more thing that might impact this: Although on all my grandfather's records, it has his place of birth as Warsaw, when he, his sisters, and mother came to the US, she had listed Grodno was where they were coming from. But that hasn't helped, either. Thank you for ANY help/suggestions anyone might have! Margie Geiser
