Trying to contact Weber descendants in Israel of the Belz Dynasty

The Oldest son of the first Belzer Rebbe, Shalom Rokeach was Rav
Eleazar Rokeah and he had a daughter, Cywia, who married Solomon (Shlomo) Judah Weber. Most of the Weber family perished but a son of Cywia was the father of Malka Salpeter of Petach Tikva who posted Pages of Testimony for the family in 1956 as did Chaim Weber, son of Yakov Yitzchak, son of Cywia, who lived in Netanya and also posted Pages of Testimony in 1956. Could it be Gombin? Gombin (Gabin) is about 100km west of Warsaw, and I have
come across a variety of anglicised spellings for it in UK documents, including Gombien. Could it be a handwriting thing? We have a Grynbaum family in Gombin in the 1920s, although they do not appear to be in the Book of Residents from the late 19C. Do you have any other information you could share - such aswhat records do you have, when did he emigrate, do you have names of other family members? Best wishes, Michael Shade Brighton, UK michael@michalska.net On 14 May 2019, Cindy Potter Taylor sprucevan@gmail.com wrote: This town name appears in a couple of records for one Morris Greenbaum

I would appreciate help with these five Birth Record translations from

ALBAHARY, ELIAS and VIDAS
#romania
Bill Hunter <nickh2@...>
I have just joined this group. The families I have been researching are
connected with ALBAHARY and ELIAS. Recently learned Raoul VIDAS (1901-1978), Romanian born and French trained Violin prodigy is a cousin. I have traced the ALBAHARY family back to Bucharest, though the origin of my great-great-great grandfather, Isak ALBAHARY is not known, but he lived in Bucharest which is where his children were born. Another town associated with him is Silistria. His wife, Ora ELIAS (1901-1901), is listed in Vienna death record as born in Semlin. Ora is sister to the famous Menachem H. Elias (1812-1892). Most of Isak's and Ora's descendants moved to Vienna and Berlin in latter 1800s, but I suspect other relatives were in Romania. Their company, S. Albahary & Co., is listed as an export firm for Romania and Bulgaria in Berlin directory in 1930s. In various birth/marriage/death registries family members are listed as both Sephardic and Turkish Jews. The head of the S. Albahary firm, Samuel ALBAHARY, was noted to be head of the Vienna Turkish Jewish community in 1901 obituary of his mother Ora. It may be that my ALBAHARY family of Romania, may very well be a branch of the ALBAHARI family. All my information is on wikitree. Isak ALBAHARY: <https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Albahary-10> I have recently learned that famous Romanian violinist, Raoul VIDAS, was a cousin of Jacques ALBAHARY (1872-1942), grandson of Isak and Ora. I do not know the connection. I look forward to cooperate with anyone with information or methods for exploring information in Romania and Bulgaria. I have located many graves in Vienna Jewish Cemetery as well as Berlin, but nothing in Bucharest. Ora is buried in Vienna, but I presume Isak died well before his wife Ora and may be buried in Bucharest or Silistria. Bill Hunter nickh2@cox.net.

Claudia Bullock is "seeking assistance in locating records which do not
seem to have been digitized... created prior to World War I, in Czortkow, Austria...." Not an easy task: it is exactly what we do in the Galicia courses... understand the town first, then track where the records are. We begin with our JewishGen community page to see the location of Chortkiv, Ukraine 49 01 N 25 48 E. Note the KehilaLinks page https://kehilalinks.jewishgen.org/Suchostaw/sl_czortkow.htm and that a cemetery has been indexed on JOWBR! This page https://www.jewishgen.org/Communities/community.php?usbgn=-1037393 will also give you the history of Czortkow's governments and all the town name aliases. The first stop for record information is RTRfoundation.org, which lists all the records in the archives. This will enable you to understand if the records you seek even exist. RTR lists these birth and marriage vital records (plus many other types of records): For birth, AGAD has 1874-1898, 1900-1906, 1921, 1926, 1934-1935, and the USC has 1906-1935. For marriage, AGAD has 1878-1911, 1912-1932, 1933-1938; the Warsaw USC has 1912-1939, and the LVIV archives have 1874-1876, 1888, 1925. In addition, the LDS has deaths 1874-1876 and 1888, a 1925 marriage index, and 1925 marriages. When I checked the LDS catalog (familysearch.org) I found the records were digitized: 2405439, Item 3, 7811145 and available online but according to the JRI-Poland AGAD Eastern Galician town inventory, this microfilm holds additional births 1912-35, marriages 1912-1942, and deaths 1908-1942. JRI-Poland's town page for Czortkow lists these records indexed online: births 1874-1901, deaths 1884-1898. You can see the details here: https://jri-poland.org/town/czortkow.htm. When I used the JRI-Poland search (within 10 miles of Czortkow at 4901/2548) for Gottlieb I found 46 records on JRI-Poland from Czortkow PSA AGAD Marriages 1878,79,82-1911,23,27,30-34 Deaths 1898-1907 Czortkow PSA AGAD Births 1901-11 Births 1874-1901, Deaths 1884-98 so it appears there are more records indexed then on the town list. At Gesher Galicia: the search at https://search.geshergalicia.org/ turns up 4 records within 10 miles for Gottlieb and also, the Galitizianer Newsletter of Sept 2017 has many references to Czortkow records. All of these indexes and records online are a subset of what is in the various archives. To find other vital records, you may need to review the RTR listings, the LDS microfilms and/or find a local Ukraine researcher to review the USC or LVIV archives. Many of my students in the Galicia courses (www.jewishgen.org/education) have located which archives have records which they seek. We are all hoping there will be more online indexes and records every year.. Hope this helps.
