Eleazar Rokeah and he had a daughter, Cywia, who married Solomon
(Shlomo) Judah Weber. Most of the Weber family perished but a son of

Could it be Gombin? Gombin (Gabin) is about 100km west of Warsaw, and I have
come across a variety of anglicised spellings for it in UK documents, including
Gombien. Could it be a handwriting thing? We have a Grynbaum family in
Gombin in the 1920s, although they do not appear to be in the Book of Residents

from the late 19C. Do you have any other information you could share - such as

what records do you have, when did he emigrate, do you have names of other
family members?

I have just joined this group. The families I have been researching are
connected with ALBAHARY and ELIAS. Recently learned Raoul VIDAS
(1901-1978), Romanian born and French trained Violin prodigy is a cousin.

I have traced the ALBAHARY family back to Bucharest, though the origin of
my great-great-great grandfather, Isak ALBAHARY is not known, but he lived
in Bucharest which is where his children were born. Another town associated
with him is Silistria. His wife, Ora ELIAS (1901-1901), is listed in Vienna
death record as born in Semlin. Ora is sister to the famous Menachem H.
Elias (1812-1892).
Most of Isak's and Ora's descendants moved to Vienna and Berlin in latter
1800s, but I suspect other relatives were in Romania. Their company, S.
Albahary & Co., is listed as an export firm for Romania and Bulgaria in
Berlin directory in 1930s. In various birth/marriage/death registries
family members are listed as both Sephardic and Turkish Jews. The head of
the S. Albahary firm, Samuel ALBAHARY, was noted to be head of the Vienna
Turkish Jewish community in 1901 obituary of his mother Ora.

It may be that my ALBAHARY family of Romania, may very well be a branch of

understand the town first, then track where the records are. We begin

In addition, the LDS has deaths 1874-1876 and 1888, a 1925 marriage
index, and 1925 marriages. When I checked the LDS catalog
(familysearch.org) I found the records were digitized: 2405439, Item 3,
7811145 and available online but according to the JRI-Poland AGAD
Eastern Galician town inventory, this microfilm holds additional births
1912-35, marriages 1912-1942, and deaths 1908-1942.
