Uploading autosomal results #dna

mkaplan27

My adult daughter tested with 23andMe; my wife tested with Family Tree
DNA. Since my daughter tested just a few months ago her are results were
rejected by Family Tree DNA as being >from too recent a version (V5 chip)
and so incompatible.

Any advice as to what we can do?

-Michael Kaplan

Dear Tom,

you are actually in the wrong place, the proof is that that in the
AUSTRIAN "Dokumentationsarchiv des oesterreichischen Widerstands"
(daow.at), you can find a very detailed biography of Otto Heller (I
don't know whether you have all the details?):

"geb. 14. 12. 1897 in Brünn

Schriftsteller. Verheiratet, 1 Tochter.

SDAP. KPČ. KPÖ. Studium der Rechtswissenschaft in Wien und Prag.
1921-1923 Chefredakteur der kommunistischen Tageszeitung "Vorwärts" in
Reichenberg/Liberec. Nach der Ausweisung aus der ÄŒSR 1926-1928
Journalist in Berlin. 1929-1933 Reisen durch die Sowjetunion. 1933
Flucht in die Schweiz, Februar 1934 Wien, 1935-1936 Redakteur der
"Deutschen Zentral-Zeitung" in Moskau. Im Sommer 1936 über Paris nach
Spanien. Sprecher bei Radio Madrid. 1938 nach Frankreich, 1939
inhaftiert. 3. 11. 1941 - 11. 2. 1942 Le Vernet. Ab 1942 als Raymond
Brunet im französischen Widerstand. Als Dolmetscher in eine Dienststelle
der Deutschen Wehrmacht in Lille eingeschleust. Am 23. 12. 1943
verhaftet. Am 31. 7. 1944 mit Convoi 44 von Drancy nach Auschwitz. Ab
25. 1. 1945 Mauthausen und Ebensee.

Gestorben am 26. 3. 1945 in Ebensee."

Since he was a Sudeten German, you should post on the AustroCzech list,

I wish you success

DNA match to me but not my parents #dna

lynnpollak@...

During the last year my parents (who are 3rd cousins) and I did the
autosomal family finder test on FTDNA. One surprise was that a very
good friend and neighbor with whom I thought I had no family
relationship came up as a 5th or remote cousin on my test, with 116
Shared Cm and a longest block of 9.
He did not show up on either of my parents' tests. Can someone explain
why? I am not adopted, I show up as a daughter of each of my parents.
Many thanks,
Lynn Pollak Golumbic

Origin of surname MALUS/MALES #general

Tsiporah Trom

I'm researching the possible meaning of the surname MALUS/MALES.

For now, I came up with two possible meanings:

- It derives >from the woman's given name Mali, as a possible ancestor.
- It derives >from the Polish word "maluszke" or Russian word "maluchik",
meaning "little boy" or "someone of small size".

I do not have access to Alexander Beider's work. So I would gladly hear
your thoughts on this.

Thank you in advance for your help.

DNAPainter amd Genome Mate Pro #dna

Dear Group,

Can anyone point me to a resource that compares DNAPainter and Genome
Mate Pro in terms of the capabilities, not opinions.

I want to understand what each one does and if there is any overlap in
their capabilities.
