What Happened to Rosa Lubarsky (Lybarsky)? #general

Emilie Epstein <ekepstein@...>

Divorce Documents >from Antwerp Belgium shows her to have been born in
1864 in Nemeroff (Nemorov) Odessa, Russia. (Father: Israel Lubarsky;
Mother Sarah Silber) Her husband had been Elimelech GLADSTEIN with
whom she had 4 children: Israel, Samuel, Rose & Rebecca. Elimelech
remained in Belgium and remarried. She came to America. I have no
documents proving her arrival nor do I have a census on which her name
appears. Yet, I have several photos and there are great grandchildren
who remember her. Both recall her living in the Brighton Beach area
in Brooklyn, perhaps at 3250 Coney Island Ave.

I believe she died in 1943 and is buried under the name of ROSCA
GLADSTEIN at Old Montefiore Cemetery in Queens, NY. Familysearch.org
lists her husband as Hilel BOSLOW. (Originally, Boslowsky or similar)
His Declaration for Naturalization shows that he was born in Riginiffay, Kiev.

He had been married to Deborah TUSCHKOFSKY. The 1915 Census indicates
he is a widow and the children listed are: Sarah, Nathan, Herman and
Harry. Other siblings were Pearl Boslow and Rachel TARASIUK.

I have found no marriage listing of Hillel and Rosa. I have not found
a ship manifest for her arrival which I estimate to have been between
1910 and 1915. I have found no census report with her name or of Hilel
and Rosa together. One thought about the dates for her birth and death.

I am hoping that someone might have a suggestion or could actually
locate the actual documents for which I search. I would be most grateful.

I'd be most grateful for a translation of this certificate (ignoring
the legalese) in particular references to names as we have some
confusion, probably due to mixing surnames and patronymics. Names
associated MICHALOWICZ (that became Michaels in UK and Mitchell in
USA), ABRAHAMS, NAWROCKA all >from Mlawa.

The U.S. State Department announced on February 6 that additional reparation
payments would be made to individuals with approved claims (386 of 867
claims) in connection with the Holocaust Deportation Claims Program which
France provided $60 million to the United States to distribute to Holocaust
survivors who were transported on French rail to Nazi camps. Those whose

Department. The agreement covered U.S. citizens, as well as deportees who

Town of either Szranetz or Valetchish #general

Phyllis Kramer

Judi Wagner asked for help in locating " Szranetz, Russia ,,,and
Valetchish, Russia in 1910,

I began with valetchish in the Russia empire (before WWI) using the community
pages. The phonetic default did not produce a likely town, so i changed the
query to look for towns "sounding like"...and found this town:
Volochysk, Woloczysk, Volochisk at 4932/2610 in the Ukraine. It had almost 800
jewishgennners in the JGFF! Thus a likely candidate. I looked thru the neighboring
towns and nothing sounded like Szranetz....

So I queried the JewishGen radius search,
at https://www.jewishgen.org/Communities/LocRad.asp to look for a town nearby
(within 15 miles of 4932/2610) "sounding like" Szranetz.....repeating the town name
out loud...as i thought a clerk would write it down as it sounded, after hearing
it..I found Staromeshchizna a mile >from Volochysk...now this doesnt mean its "your
town", but the methodology is worth pursuing.

Hopefully someone will have more local information.
happy hunting...

looking for someone to search Warsaw residence books mid 1700s to mid 1800s #warsaw #poland

Helen Gardner

Greetings, all.

With a great deal of help >from the Emmanuel Ringelblum Jewish Historical In=
stitute (JHI) I have been able to do some intensive work on my Ajgengold fa=
mily, and I am extremely grateful for their help and persistence in trackin=
g people down. Ajgengold (and variant spellings) is an unusual name, assoc=
iated exclusively with Warsaw until the late 1800s.

The problem is that JHI and I have come to different conclusions regarding =
the very earliest family members >from about 1769 to 1811. Since we have exh=
austed all the available records, including newspaper searches, my only rec=
ourse is to see if I can find someone who could search the residence books =
for me, in the hopes of working out the definitive family line. I would spe=
ll out all the details to anyone who can help, and would be prepared to neg=
otiate a payment if necessary.

Please contact me directly if either you, yourself, can help, or if you kno=
w of any person or company who could do so, or reply to the list if the inf=
ormation is of general interest.
