Re: Romanian 1901 manifests #romania

What do you mean, finding manifest "for Romania"?? Do you mean mention of
Romania on manifests?? If so, I just used the general white form (on either
JewishGen or Stevemorse.org), entered 1901, chose Roumania, and randomly
the letter B for the last name and got plenty of responses.

I am having trouble finding ship manifests for Romania on the Ellis Island
site for the year 1901.
I found ones for 1900 and 1902. I am not sure just what I am doing wrong.
Could someone help?

A mystery in an Arolsen record found in Yad Vashem #germany #poland #danzig #gdansk

Tamar Amit <tamar.amit@...>

Fellow SIGers,

I need your assistance with an information card photo >from Arolsen.
I found it while researching in Yad Vashem and all known details such
as maiden name, birth date and place match my great grandmother, Rosa
BECKER born LEVY.
She was born in Tuchel, married and after WW1 moved with the family to
Frei Stadt Danzig, now Gdansk.
One of her daughters had married a German, as a result was expelled
from the family for a few years at least. This daughther, Lotte with
her husband and children lived throughout WW2 and afterwards in
Flensburg near Denmark, very far >from Danzig.
I am wondering why there is a mention of Flensburg when it states that
Rosa died in Danzig. Her daughter's address at the time is my only
current connection. Any suggestions will be welcomed.

Need Viewmate Translation, Russian and Yiddish #belarus

Howard Kaufman

I have posted 2 pictures on Viewmate, numbers 7809 and
7810 which are the front and back of a 1931 graduating
class picture >from the Vitbesk province, around the
shtetl of Ushachi, near Lepel.

I would appreciate any help in translating the back of
the card which is Russian (I think) on the top and
Yiddish on the bottom.

The pictures on the front all have the names written
below each picture, last name and first initial, which
I would also appreciate being translated. These are
in Russian and I am hoping to identify other families
in the shtetl. I know the bottom middle picture is of
a Furman, daughter of my maternal grandmother’s
brother Zalmon Furman who was also the photographer.

1814 list matches found - KLEIMANN + ALEXANDER. #poland #danzig #gdansk #germany

Jonathan Borchard <JonBorchard@...>

Hi all

I have not posted anything to the list before - partly because I have not
had too much time recently for genealogy and secondly I know next to nothing
about my Danzig ancestors!!

I have been given the great reason to do something about this by looking at
the list today and finding, I think, two branches of my family.

Those two branches at KLEIMANN and ALEXANDER.

The only reason I know about them is because their daughter Mathilde
Kliemann was born in Magdeburg, Germany on October 27, 1843 and >from her
birth certificate I learnt her parents were Louis Kleimann >from Danzig and
Johanne Jeremias >from Danzig.

I located the marriage certificate for Louis and Johanne in Magdeburg dated
April 30, 1843 and >from that learnt that Louis parents were Joseph KLEIMANN
and Rebecka ALEXANDER >from Danzig. It stated Joseph had already died in
Danzig and Rebecka was still alive and living in Danzig.

On the list, No. 306 is Joseph Israel who took the name Joseph KLEIMANN -
looks a very likely match.

Unfortunately there are two Alexander families mentioned. No. 3 on the list
is Hirsch Marcus and No. 4 is Hirsch Leyser - since i dont know the first
name of Rebeka Alexanders father I don't know which is mine.

Would anyone know if there is any chance of finding out anything else about
these people? I have no experience of locating records in Danzig and would
greatly appreciate any help I can get!!

Kind regards

Jonathan Borchard - London.

name of Rebeka Alexanders father I don't know which is mine.

Would anyone know if there is any chance of finding out anything else about
these people? I have no experience of locating records in Danzig and would
greatly appreciate any help I can get!!

Kind regards
