Dear JewishGen Volunteers, Colleagues, and Community Members,

Thanks in large part to the steadfast work of our dedicated and expert
community, JewishGen.org has seen another year of remarkable growth,
community development, and new resources.

As the year comes to a close, I am writing in the hope that you'll
join me in thanking Michael Tobias for his phenomenal service to our
beloved organization. At the end of this month, Michael will leave
JewishGen as a full-time staff member. However, as many of you know,
his work will have a lasting impact.

For more than two decades, as a volunteer and then as a full-time
staff member, Michael has made critical contributions to both
JewishGen and the broader Jewish genealogical community. The
historical databases that he innovated and developed have allowed
JewishGen to take our place as the largest digital repository for
Jewish family history information in the world.

Our databases, which currently contain more than 30 million Jewish
records, have helped reconnect thousands of Jewish families and
inspired them to consider what it means to be part of the Jewish
people. Many meaningful family reunions -- including those of Holocaust
survivors and their families -- have resulted >from Michael's passion
and dedication.

Thank you, Michael, for supporting the mission that we all hold dear --
preserving our Jewish family history and heritage for future
generations.

Lodz Registration Cards Extraction Update 180,000 #general

Margalit Ashira Ir

Dear Researchers:

Since our last upload in August, our volunteer team has been working
diligently extracting more Jewish names >from the Lodz Registration
Cards 1916-1921. 50,000 names have been added bringing the total of
180,000 Jewish names.

Each name is a new star in the heavens leading to the discovery of
entire families living in Lodz in this period. However, researchers
should be aware that there are more than 1,000 towns of birth - other
than Lodz - mentioned in the cards extracted to date. They include
towns and villages near and far. Just a few examples of distant
locations are Warszawa, Bialystok, Lublin, Bedzin, Wloclawek and
Suwalki.

So, if you are looking for missing individuals and families, they may
well have moved to Lodz.

My gratitude to all the dedicated volunteers who have taken a personal
interest in this project, and to Howard Fink, our technical guru, who
handles the pre-upload processing of the data. A great way to
recognize our volunteers for the years of effort is to make a
contribution to Lodz Registration Cards project. You can donate
online at https://www.jri-poland.org/support.htm

Researchers wishing to have an advance/priority search conducted for
their families >from cards not yet indexed may do so by making a
qualifying contribution of $54 per family name. Please contact
Margalit Ir and let her know your specific interest.

There is still much work to be done and additional volunteers are
needed to join this elite group and expedite the completion of the
project. Please contact me with your interest at

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy New Year filled with all the
