ISO of travel guide or agency in Lithuania specializing in Jewish heritage issues
#lithuania
thirst4wholeness <thirst4wholeness@...>
Hello!
I am traveling to Lithuania in a couple of days, and I wonder if anyone here could recommend a knowledgeable local travel guide or agency specifically dealing with the issues of Jewish heritage in Lithuania (preferably, an archivist or historian by training). Specifically, I am interested in Kaunas, Jurbarkas and Siauliai areas. I'd like to visit Vilnius as well. The guide would need to speak either English or Russian fluently as I don't speak Lithuanian. Also, if anyone has any connections in the Lithuanian archives, especially KRA, I would appreciate if you could put me in touch with these people. Thanks in advance! Best, Kate MODERATOR'S NOTE: Please send any recommendations privately.

Seeking Information on Anna KATZ - Brooklyn, NY - Thank you all!
#galicia
Joyce Eastman
I wanted to thank everyone who responded to my original e-mail seeking
information about Anna Katz, who was noted on my uncle's request for immigration in Vienna, Austria in 1938 as his "aunt" living in Brooklyn, NY - previously unknown to any of us in our WILDER family. It now appears from information received >from the many people who replied to myinquiry, that Anna Katz (born Honig recte Wilder) is in fact the sister of my paternal grandfather, Salomon Wolf Wilder. I am in the process of gathering more documentation >from IKG-Wien regarding Anna Katz as well as her daughter Hesie, who both resided in Vienna, Austria prior to their departure for the US in 1920. IKG-Wien has been an invaluable resource in the past to find out more about my paternal grandparents and their family by providing documentation not only of their existence, but also about the fate they met during the Holocaust. Many thanks to all of you for your diligence and the information you provided, and a special thanks to Barbara Zimmer for the extensive information she provided to me that will definitely assist me with my inquiry to IKG-Wien. These digests are an invaluable resource, and the people who read them are a great help in finding information that you might never have found on your own. Joyce Eastman Orange City, FL USA
