Re: X matches to cousins #dna

Sandy, if your male cousin is related to you on *his* mother's side, you
might match. If however he is related to you on his father's side, it would
be very unlikely that you would have an X match. Every woman gets an X from
each of her parents, but a man gets his X >from his mother, he gets a Y from
his father. There are several Facebook groups with nice charts on the
inheritance of the X. One is DNA Your Jewish Journey.

I am confused about X-matches in autosomal DNA (tested with FTDNA/Family
Finder). I have three first cousins (siblings) >from the same family. The
two female cousins are X-matches to me, but the one male cousin (third
sibling) is not an X-match. Shouldn't they all be X-matches?

Searching for a David TZCHEMERINSKY who have been the Rabbi of the
city of Novarodok, during the 17-18th centuries. The above Rabbi is
mentioned in several sources but without a family name. He wrote a
"Sefer" (book) called "Galia Mesechta" (or Masechet).

Many years ago I was contacted by an AGOLNICK family who said they
were descendants of the above but over the years I have lost contact
with them.

Thank you in advance.

Dear Bessarabers,

I want to thank you all who emailed me and also who donated for Brichany
Project! We have in our SIG really a great group of researchers, people who
care about our Heritage, History, and preserving whatever we can.

I just could not believe... Yesterday I posted this message about
Cemeteries and Brichany specifically... and we received since yesterday $650
donations!! We can do with such group everything we need! I was really
touched by your response.

Also several of our members wrote that the links were not working...
The problem with that is that sometimes links are cut and you could see that
part of the line is a link, but there are also several characters outside
the link... if it is not working, you should bring characters >from outside
the link to the link and it will work:

Like for this one, you probably saw that "m" was not inside the link - add
it to the line and it will work:

ABRAMOWITZ family - New Haven, Ct. 19th century #general

Yonatan Ben-Ari

My great greatgrandmother Rivka ABRAMOWITZ came to the New Haven,
Ct. USA ,>from Novarodok, during the second half of the 19th cent. as a
widow with 4 young children, (David, Sarah, Mayer and Kalman). She
supposedly remarried a widower either in Europe , on the way to the
States , or in New Haven.

I am in touch with Mayer and Kalman descendants but have none with
David and Sarah's. According to family sources, David moved to Boston
and was connected to a dept. store (not sure which) and Sarah (may
have married a COHEN) lived in NYC (at least spent time on Coney
Island) and were members of the Bund.

I would be happy to make contact with descendants of the above David and Sarah.

Thanks in advance,

Yoni Ben-Ari, Jerusalem

Chaya HOROWITZ-Zloczow - Holocaust survivor? #general

Yonatan Ben-Ari

My wife's grandmother, Riwka EISEN (ne: DISTENFELD) died in Zloczow,
in1935. Several of her children escaped to the west before WW2 and
several perished. Her husband, Zvi Hirsch came to states before the
war.

One of the daughters who was thought to have been killed in the war,
Chaya who married a HOROWITZ was "reported" to have been seen alive
begging for money.

Does anyone have information regarding the above Chaya HOROWITZ (ne:
Eisen) The spelling of the family names is according to the book "The
City of Zloczow" published in 1967 by the "Zloczower Relief Verband of
America".

We would be happy to hear, of course, >from anyone on this list who are
members of the above mentioned families.

Shabbat Shalom,

Yeshayahu Drucker devoted a good part of his life to rescuing Jewish
children >from non-Jewish homes. Many parents had given their children
to Polish neighbors for safekeeping during the war. Unfortunately most
of the parents did not survive the Shoah. At the end of the war, there
was no one to claim the children and they remained with the "adopted"
Polish families. Following his discharge >from the Polish army,
Yeshayahu Drucker devoted himself to rescuing Jewish children from
these homes and restoring them to their Jewish families or placing
them in Jewish orphanages. He was a one-man operation but saved
hundreds of Jewish children. This is the amazing story of one man's
mission to save Jewish children and return them to their people.

Researchers and descendants Jordanow will want to have this book.

I was given two postcards by a relative. The backs say STRELETZKY 180
East 116 Street, NY.

The front of one appears to show a boy at his bar mitzvah, the second
shows a man dressed as a rabbi.

The relative said her father had these postcards, she knows they are
relatives, but doesn't know who they are.

They are at least 100 years old. STRELETZKY no longer exists. Does anyone
have any suggestions as to how I could get more information? They can be
