Searching: KORIZNER: Kraziai, Lithuania --> Elizabeth, New Jersey 1901
#general
Lisa Wolf
I am searching for my great-grandfather Wolf Leyb KORIZNER from
Kraziai, Lithuania. Wolf Leyb and my great-grandmother, Chaia BERELOVICH immigrated to NYC, then Elizabeth, New Jersey in 1901. I have internal passport records, tax and voter lists, family list, a birth record and a marriage record for various members of the Korizner family showing them living in Kraziai. A number of sources have told me that the name Korizner is a place surname and indicated they were originally >from Korizny/Kraziai. I am unable to find any other records in any other databases for the Korizner surname. I am specifically looking for birth/marriage records for Wolf Leib, for his parents , Girsha and Chana and any records for his grandfather Wolf. I am also looking for any other families with the surname KORIZNER. Thanks, Lisa Wolf

Finding Correct Info
#general
Gideon Hadari <gideon@...>
Hi,
I checked my family tree for consistency and found 15 consistency issues. How can I solve, at least, one issue? e.g. Issue: "Died too old: = Deceased person died when they were more than 110 years old. Eliezer Lipa (Lipman) (Born 1687, died February 11 1813) was rather old at death (at least 125 years old)" I've searched the internet and these dates are everywhere. Where and how I can find correct information? Please advise. Best regards, Gideon Hadari Israel

Additional Source for YTandV Material

The following posting was prepared by the founder of the Yiddish Theatre and Vaudeville Research Group:.
I have permission >from David Mazower to post the below on YTandV; it has been slightly redacted to align it with YTandV's goals and it is now "plain text" as required by JewishGen. To ensure that those doing research in YTandV know to keep checking what YBC (formerly the National Yiddish Book Center) has to offer, both online and in person. Reminder to those new to genealogy: staff at institutions won't be able to do your research for you. To quote >from the posting " ... Amid a huge trove of Yiddish theater ... song sheets ...". For those new to genealogy, song sheets and other memorabilia >from Yiddish theaters have names and dates. Obviously, YBC is a major source of information for those seeking genealogical information for family >from the Yiddish theater world. This is a source worth checking regularly since as the example below shows, new findings are uncovered often. While I have been a donor every year to this non-profit since its incorporation in 1980, I have no other connection. I receive the online notices as a donor. Wishing all to whom it applies a Good Shabbos in advance, Taibel bas Rachel Leah v'Shlomo Yehoshua AKA Jonina Duker <jonina_duker@yahoo.com> Founder of the YTandV Research Group

Jewish Records Indexing - Poland
On behalf of the Executive Committee and Board of Jewish Records
Indexing - Poland and all JRI-Poland volunteers, it is with sincere pleasure we extend heartiest congratulations to our colleague and friend, Mark Halpern, on receiving the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award of the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies. Mark has been been an integral part of JRI-Poland leadership for almost twenty years as a member of the JRI-Poland executive committee and board. He has played in indispensable role as Coordinator of the AGAD and Bialystok Archives Projects and the JRI-Poland online order system. In addition, Mark was president of the JGS of Philadelphia >from 2003 to 2007, following which he became editor of Chronicles, the JGS of Philadelphia journal. In 2009, Mark was Co-Chair of the IAJGS conference in Philadelphia and Program Chair of the 2013 conference in Boston. He has filled every role with dedication, wisdom and tireless effort. It is certainly fitting that Mark was presented with the award in Warsaw given his decades long leadership and contributions to the indexing of the Jewish records of Poland as part of the JRI-Poland team. In recognizing and honoring Mark's lifetime of achievement, the IAJGS has selected a most deserving member of the Jewish genealogical community. We are beyond proud of Mark. Stanley Diamond, Executive Director On behalf of the board of JRI-Poland

Yefim, In your usually modest way, you neglected to mention your Volunteer
of the Year Award, which was richly deserved. Congratulations! I'm glad JewishGen recognizes your significant contributions to Bessarabian Jewish Genealogy. Thank you so much. I've been going through Ujfeherto birth registers for the 1860s and the =
