Yitzchak LAZAROV - London/Jerusalem - late 19th cent. #rabbinic

Yonatan Ben-Ari

Searching for information regarding Yitzchak LAZAROV (spelling
approx.) who came to live in Jerusalem in his later years and died
there. He had 12children with his first wife (or wives). He seems to
have been financially wealthy and was ultra-orthodox.

According to a possible source he married (as a widow or divorcee) my
great grandmother in Jerusalem probably sometime around the turn of
the century (19-20th).

Dear Rabbinical Researchers,

In connection to my own family's genealogical research, I am looking for
a tree which shows the pathway mentioned in this article
(https://hamodia.com/columns/day-history-17-tevesjanuary-4/):

"Harav Aryeh Leibish Lipshitz was born in Yaroslav in 5527/1767. His
father was Harav Chaim Asher. The family were descendants of the
Maharshal and Harav Mordechai Yaffe, the Levush."

I have reviewed several trees including those available on Geni, the
Jewish Encyclopedia, DavidicDynasty.com, and have not yet discovered how
R' Aryeh is descended >from the Maharshal and the Levush.

Can anyone direct me to another tree showing these lineages?

Thanks,
Adam Cherson

2 corrections to my postings regarding Yizchak LAZAROV who married my
great great grandmother.

Firstly I was referring to him when I wrote in parenthesis "widow or
divorcee" , should have written "widower or divorced".

Secondly, Yeshivat Torat Chaim in Jerusalem did not collapse in1901
but came out with an international donation campaign that year due to
afinancial crisis , but the yeshiva continued for years afterwards.

Sorry for the errors.

ABRAMOWITZ: According to my family sources , LAZAROV was a major
benefactor of Yeshivat Torat Chaim in Jerusalem and the Yeshiva
collapsed financially in 1901. Shortly afterwards LAZAROV passed away
in Jerusalem.

I would be interested to know if the above LAZAROV has any connection
to the Jewelry family in New Haven, Ct. where my above ancestress
landed and lived when she emigrated >from Europe to the USA during the

Hope this makes my previous postings a bit clearer.

Dear JewishGen Community,

In the past year, JewishGen has been extremely active. We added a

implemented a host of new web features, entered into a multitude of
important partnerships (including Beit Hatfutsot, and the Miriam
Weiner/Routes to Roots Foundation), and added more than 1 million
records to our collection.

And this is just the beginning!

We are currently focused on significantly expanding our content
acquisition, unveiling a brand new website and search experience, new
web tools, new online classes, and much more!

As you can see, we are working as hard as we possibly can - but we
need your help to continue and to grow!
