Epidemic in Minsk 1900 #belarus

Gayle Schlissel Riley

Does anyone know of any epidemics that hit the Minsk area around 1900?
My great uncle as a little boy of 3 died. My grandfather reported that in
his insurance papers >from the Canadian Army. I believe it was what we call
childhood illnesses.
Thanks..

1848 Hungarian Jewish census records from Bratislava (Pozsony) district #hungary

davidmdubin@...

Hi all,
Where are the 1848 Hungarian "Conscriptio Judaeorum" census records
from the area around Bratislava (called Pozsony in Hungarian)?
The H-SIG web page for the census states these records are not held
with the majority of the census and were not copied by the LDS. It
does state these records are in the Hungarian State Archives and gives
a film number (43504). However, when I contacted the archives, they
stated the records are not there!
The H-SIG page also says these records are "in progress" of being
abstracted. I assume that means someone has access to them & knows
where they are.
Please, HELP! I have ancestors trapped in those records.
Thank you.

Dear Moderator,
I wouldn't have bothered the H-SIG community with my inquiry had my
family not been >from Hungary.

Dear Siggers,

I am wondering what could the reason for a persons late marriage.

My grandfather b. 1873 married his first wife in 1903 (i.e. he was 30
years of age). He was the youngest of eight children in a well to do
family. His father (my great-grandfather) was a land owner and one of
the community leaders.

Jewish men, usually married at 18 or 21. I am puzzled by why he only
married so late. There were no wars during this time, he did not
travel to other countries or the USA, the family was well-to-do, and
distinguished.

I know that an older brother and older sister passed away from
"psychosis" which I suspect is a politically-correct alternative to
suicide. That may have decreased his "attractiveness" as a suitable
groom.

Thank you,

SCHVARTZ / LECHTMAN Offspring #ukraine

Harry Moatz

I am researching the SCHWARTZ / SCHWARZ /SHVARTZ / SHVARZ family. Part
of the family is >from Stanisalawow, now Ivano-Frankivisk, now in the
Western Ukraine (formerly Poland / Galicia). Part of the family is
from Monasterzyska, also now in the Western Ukraine (formerly Poland /
Galicia). I am aware of many members went to the New York area, some
went Isreal.

I am most interested in locating any offspring of Natan LEKHTMAN. His
testimony is preserved at Yad Vashem regarding the deaths of Berta
SCHVARTZ RUBIN, Freida SCHVARTZ VAENSHTOCK, and their respective
children, Fieda, Leonid, Tatiana ( aka Tynia), and Roza RUBIN; and
Zhana and Helena VAENSHTOCK. Natan is the grandson of Freida SCHVARTZ
VAENSHTOCK.

Berta and Freida SCHVARTZ's father, Mordechai (aka Marcus) SCHVARZ
(spelled without a t), was my ggrandfather's brother.

I would appreciate any family links in the SCHWARTZ / SCHWARZ /
SCHVARTZ or LEKTHMAN lineage. Please contact me privately at the
email above.

Thank you.
