This enquiry is addressed to all the Goldenbergs who have contributed to

Would any of their GOLDENBERG names be a shortened form of the name
GOLDENBERGER? On my late grandfather's military draft registration of
1886 he is named Simon Shmuel Goldenberger. His parents were Benjamin and
Gerty Goldenberger, both subjects of Romania. On his British Naturalization
certificate it states that Simon was born in Bucharest in 1859. >from
Bucharest he moved to Kirovograd before emigrating with his wife and four
children to Leeds, England, about 1898, when he changed the family name to
GOLDMAN. He was the only member of his immediate family to live in
England. It is known that he had relatives
(most probably sibblings) who emigrated to U.S.A. Names and their
whereabouts are unknown.

I would like to hear >from anyone who has any information on this
GOLDENBERGER family.

CONNERS (or CONNORS) who may have appeared in a Lewis Fields production at
the Broadway Theater (assumed New York City) in mid-August 1911.

1905 and is available on microfilm at many large city libraries. I would
assume the NY Public Library has the microfilm.

The New York Times of August 20, 1911, reports that Lew Fields and his
company was having a successful run at the Broadway Theater of a production
called "The Hen Pecks". The show is reported to have a company of 100
performers. Productions that followed "The Hen Pecks" were to be
"The Never Homes" and "The Wife Hunters", also Lew Fields efforts at the
Broadway Theater. Tryouts were being held in August 1911 and one of those
three may have been the production that included Hattie Conners. Variety
Magazine may have more regarding the performers.

Hi All ,

When my father in law was buried at Pinelands we ask the same question. The
answer that we got was the tombstone is not always above the persons head.
That would make sense then the deceased still face Jerusalem.

of mapping Jewish Migration over the past 40-50 years and asks "How can
this get done"?

Each one of our SIG members are living in a Jewish
Community. Do these communities not
have a Jewish Newspaper or Magazine, where an
advertisement can be inserted to obtain the information
desired? This can be taken upon by the Co-ordinators
of the SA SIG in the country in which they are living.

My grandfather , Moshe Bersin, came >from Rezekne, Latvia, to Capetown,
sometime around the beginning of the century. His cousin, Sonia Kopman,
came out >from Rezekne to marry him ( as far as I know)

The family lived in Plumstead, and Moshe died - it must have been in the
early thirties.

Does anyone know how I can get my hands on information regarding the
family? When they arrived in Capetown, where they were married, and
where Moshe is buried?

on a few occasions" - because there was an article in the
English press in Israel last week which caught my eye,
in which Cemeteries and Synagogues incorrectly
facing Jerusalem >from the rest of the world was mentioned.

from S.A. it would be North East,

and depending on which part of the world you are in,
this fact is reliant on the geographic situation of each country
in proportion to Jerusalem.

I hope this solves the query to members who think I am
making unecessary assumptions >from time to time.

Lyric Theater in Dayton Ohio dated Nov. 30, 1910
stating coming next week M. Golden the famous producer
of dances peculiar to the land of the Czar is opening
his new production etc. (It gives a the production
story line) My grandmother Hattie Conners (she was a
singer and dancer) is pictured with Mr. M. Golden. I
also have a letter >from Aronson & Backer addressed to
Hattie stating that she should report to the Broadway
Theater for a production that will open in the 2nd
week of August 1911 she will be joining the company of
Lewis Fields etc. Yet with all my research (at the NY
Public Library of Performing Arts) I can find nothing.
I have search for M. Golden, I have searched for a
show in Aug. with Fields and have hit that brick wall.
Would appreciate any assistance in trying to locate
any infO.
