Robert Neu
Hi all,
With this update of over 7,000 records there are over 80,000 records on line. Actually it completes the original scope of the project of transcribing the seven microfilms that were made by the LDS Family History Center. Transcription >from "Szatmar" are being added to the record (over 1450 records with this update.) The records come >from the Nyireghaza county archives. Our many thanks to all those who have and continue to make this project a reality. Robert Neu 1848 Hungarian Jewish Census coordinator

John J Kovacs <j.kovacs@...>
A number of Jewishgen participants have contacted me
about the subject of Jews in the Habsburg Armed Forces. Those interested in this general subject may wish to look up "The Hungarian Austro-Hungarian Land Forces as at August 1914-1918," at http://www.austro-hungarian-army.co.uk/aug14.htm. Those interested in specific names of high ranking officers should review the sections entitled Austro-Hungarian Generals and Regimental Commanders. John (Janos) Kovacs
