Fw: looking for Dvora Glaser #galicia

arie meir

Hi to all of you

My name is Arieh Mayer and I'm looking for information about my grandfather
Chaim GLASER, his wife (nee STOLZBERG) and their daughter Dvora Glaser
(born 1927).

Rachel Stolzberg mother's name was Chana Sara. All were >from Przemysl and
the last time my family heard >from them was before the war.

My mother, who was born in Vienna, Austria, was Chaim's Glaser's daughter
from his first marriage and Dvora Glaser was her half sister.
If any one of the readers have any information about the people I mentioned >from
before, during or after the war or know any body who has, please be so kind and
let me know.

I'll be grateful to those who could help me solve the mystery of what happened
to them.

library of Rabbi Kolesnik of Ivano-Frankivsk #galicia

Ruth Wielgosz <ruth_wielgosz@...>

Is there a catalog (or pending project to create a catalog) of the
historical documents that Rabbi Kolesnik has ("more than 1000 unique
books")? I think this would be a very useful list to have.

A small beginning:

When my brother visited in 2004 Rabbi Kolesnik showed him
* a synagogue record of burials
* a 1929 business directory, "Informator Miasto Stanislawowa, Rok 1"

from www.rtrfoundation.org/webart/archdatap46-49.pdf
* passport applications

From
http://data.jewishgen.org/wconnect/wc.dll?jg~jgsys~yizkor~lookup_pb~912
* Bolshovtsy yizkor book "List of the soviet citizens shot by
German-fascist occupants and their confederates of Bolshowetsky Rayon
(district), Stanislau Oblast (county)"

from http://www.spectelresearch.com/PSchattner/ukraineappendix.html
* lists of Jews registered in some of the ghettos in local villages
during WWII. These lists indicated the name, date-of-birth,
occupation and location of the individual. The middle name indicates
the name of the individual's father in the usual Slavic manner.
Heads-of-households are listed first, with the other family members
listed after. Unfortunately, the list are hard to read and are in
Ukrainian.

The Noshery is Open for Business #ukraine

Dear Genners,

Bubbe's Noshery is open for business - and just in time for the Holidays.
Please take a look and tell us what you think. The page is still in it's
"beta" version, but we wanted to get it online without further delay.
Anyone wanting to submit recipes - please visit the home page and print
out a volunteer donor agreement to sign and send to JewishGen. This
agreement allows us to use your material while you still retain ownership.

Special thanks to my co-cordinator Deborah Glassman who took the ball and
ran with it. She stepped in as Project Site Webmaster, serving as a special
assistant to Mindie Kaplan, Webmaster of the Ukraine SIG site. Deborah has
done a marvelous job and her determination and skills are beyond reproach.
THANK YOU DEB.

I just want to write and thank all of you who responded to my question
regarding the town name. I had not thought of it in terms of being a
Gubernia but as another shtetl my family had lived in. As most of you
pointed out in your messages, I now have the Gubernia, all I have to do
now is find the town. Thank you all again for your help and suggestions.

Did this R' Yehoshua Aisik ben Yehiel Shapira of Slonim & Bialystok, or any

explanation of notation: "Sura dn. 18 I 1939 do Warszawy" #poland

Robert Strumwasser <RobertStrumwasser@...>

Hi
I recently came across the following notation/abbreviation, and I was hoping
that someone could tell me what it means.

"Sura dn. 18 I 1939 do Warszawy" The "18 I 1939" almost certainly refers to
a date of January 1, 1939.

The notation appears in the 1939 Biala Podlaska Census, and refers to a
woman named Sura Sztromwaser, born July 10, 1910 in Biala Podlaska.
Any help/thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Robert Strumwasser

The papers are listed at

It is to mark the centenary of the United Archive of German Jews.

This was drawn to my attention by Hazel Dakers in JCR-UK.

It would be interesting to know whether the papers are to be published?
Did anyone go to this Conference and get any papers? If so could they get in

It looks like it can be "H" or "W" "ST" or "LB". Does anyone have a clue as
