I would appreciate if someone could please advise
why there are no records of Naturalization in S.A.; Passenger Arrivals in S.A. and Jews Temporary Shelter in London, for families who stayed there on their way to S.A. >from Eastern Europe , for the years 1920 - 1923. Neither the S.A. Is it possible to obtain these records "somewhere"? Many thanks Beryl Baleson Israel. balden@zahav.net.il

2006 Group Trip to Lithuania & Nearby Areas
#general
Howard Margol
I am organizing another group trip to Lithuania, June 13 - 22, 2006. This will be
the 13th group trip I have organized and led to Lithuania. The June, 2005 group trip was to be the last one I was going to organize. I had 25 in the group and, it was so successful, the word spread. A number of individuals have asked me to organize another group trip for 2006. I never say never but frankly, I cannot promise to do more trips in the future. If you have any thoughts about going to Lithuania, Latvia, or Belarus now is the time to sign up. Included - visits to the various Archives, synagogues, ghettos, holocaust sites, meetings with Jewish leaders, sight-seeing, guide/interpreters, and two days to visit and spend time in your shtetl, or shtetlach of interest. All meals are included (except for one dinner and two lunches), the finest hotels (new & modern), modern bus with onboard toilet, and much more. I am very familiar with the Archives, the archivists, Lithuania and the main places of Jewish interest. I do not organize these group trips as a profit-making endeavor. Everything is done at cost but in a deluxe manner. My main object is to encourage Jews to go back to their roots, to encourage them to research their ancestors and to enable them to see the rebirth of Judaism taking place in Lithuania. Important: This trip is sponsored by the American Fund For Lithuanian-Latvian Jews, Inc. (a 501(c)(3) non-profit). It is not sponsored or endorsed by Jewishgen or Shtetlshleppers. My previous trip participants can be contacted if references are desired. For details and a full itinerary of the trip, contact Howard Margol, E-mail homargol@aol.com Very important: Do not ask about this trip through a message to the Digest. Contact me directly. *** MODERATOR NOTE: JewishGen's ShtetlSchleppers service provides group tours to a variety of destinations, as well as advice and assistance with independent travel to ancestral towns. See http://www.jewishgen.org/shtetlschleppers/ for further information.

Followup on attempt to reach BLUMENBERG Relative

Leslie Weinberg <artsoul@...>
Some of you may remember the contact I made on "BLUMENBERG" who married into my
EISEN family. We discovered that my grandfather's sister married his grandmother's brother. I was so excited especially since I had information on survivors that he did not have, and he apparently, or his brother( who had traveled to Tyczyn, Poland in the 80s and brought him numerous records) might have the key to other family which I did not know about. He then stopped responding, and despite three follow-up emails, I never heard another word. Many of you suggested continuing to try, that there could have been numerous reasons for his lack of response, such as illness, computer problems, and worst of all, possibly even a death, so a couple of weeks ago I sent an email to his brother (to whom he had been sending copies of his emails to me) stating who I was, what had transpired in the emails between his brother and me, and that I hoped everyone was well. I never received an answer! I want all of you who spurred me on that I thank you, that I did follow through, and still have no response. I am seeking information about my great-grandfather, Abraham LACHOWITZSKY (b.

Seeking: FRIENDLICH or Related Name
#general
Arnold Samlan
I recently discovered my great-great-grandfather's name: Joseph/Yosef FRIENDLICH
(or close spelling). While this is all the information that I have as of the moment, his daughter, Rosie (Freindlich) SAMLAN came to Montreal, most likely in the 1890's. She was widowed at a young age, and died herself in 1915, leaving an only son, my grandfather. The only information I have >from my family is that its roots are ">from Romania," which, in that time period, could be Romania proper or any of a few other nearby countries. Anyone with the last name of Freindlich (or a closely related name) who believes that they might have a family connection, or might have other information, please contact me. Best wishes for a shana tova, Arnold D. Samlan West Hempstead, NY Researching: SAMLAN, FREINDLICH, KOOPERMAN, BROTHER
