The Jewish Genealogical Society of Johannesburg is pleased to invite you, your

WORKSHOP: TRACING YOUR ROOTS USING THE INTERNET

Speaker: Meira Puterman

Time: 7:00 PM (not 7:30PM)
Place: Beyachad, 2 Elray Street, Raedene, Johannesburg

Following our highly successful December workshop in which Meira Puterman explored
with us many useful avenues for genealogical research on the internet, we present
another interactive workshop.

family data >from the audience, Meira will show us what information can be gleaned
using internet resources. She has already found out much about her family as well

will strike gold!

Please arrive promptly in order to get the most out of this important workshop.

Entrance fee R15 per head including tea/coffee and biscuits

Ann Rabinowitz <annrab@...>

What I should have stated more definitively about Rabbi Stern's policy
towards inclusion of non-Jewish family members is the following quote
provided by Gary Mokotoff:

"He omitted families who did not have at least one generation which was
Jewish in the U.S. That is, if a Jew came to the U.S., married a Christian
and brought up their children as Christian, they were not included in the
book."

Re: LINCOLN and Jewish Ancestry - Another Angle? #general

Tilford Bartman <bartmant@...>

No doubt it's amazing who is related to who (Jewish or otherwise) if you
can trace things back enough. Though I don't really get the significance
of someone who has a few "Jewish" genes, when they have no connection
whatsoever to the Jewish religion, culture, or history. It seems pretty
meaningless to me.
