Now that the IAJGS meeting is over, I want to share a few project
related issues: 1. We have permission to transcribe the vital records of Nyiregyhaza (LDS film number 642913). We have a coordinator, Stanley Blum, but there are too many records for a single transcriber. 2. We also have permission to transcribe Nyirbator Chevra Kadisha membership records. We need a team, including a coordinator, to work on these records. If you are interested in working on either of these projects, please contact me directly at caroljr@alamedanet.net. Also just a reminder that if you are traveling to ancestral areas, please remember to photograph any Holocaust memorials that you see (and if there are small cemeteries, it would be great if you could photograph those as well). Thanks to everyone for your support of the AHD. Carol Robinson H-SIG Research Coordinator caroljr@alamedanet.net Alameda, CA

Searching JACOBSON/DIETZ From Africa
#general
Julius S Cohen 1
Hi,
Many, many years ago when I was a child (my son calls it the olden days), I was visiting with my grandparents, Max and Bessie (DIETZ) JACOBSON in Hurleyville, Sullivan County, New York State. During my visit which probably occurred in the mid 1930's, they had relatives visiting >from somewhere in Africa, probably South Africa. I do not recall anything about their names, where their family line originated in Eastern Europe or how they were related to my grandparents. According to information I have been able to collect, my grandparents were from Kovno (I do not know if that is only a Gubernia or if it is a city or if they came >from a nearby shtetl), Lithuania. If the above fits in with anyone else's research, please contact me so that we can exchange information and, perhaps, extend our family lines. Thank you. Julius S. Cohen Ann Arbor, Michigan

Searching NYC Records for JACOBSON and COHEN
#general
Julius S Cohen 1
Hi, other Genners,
First I want to send a public "Thank You" to the individuals who helped me find my parents'Certificate and Record of Marriage. This is a follow-up on the individual thanks that I sent. Now I can use some more help. The Certificate lists their residences on their wedding day, 12 December 1926. For my Dad, Abe I. Cohen it was 883-56th Street, Brooklyn. For my Mom, Rose Jacobson, it was 352 East 46th Street. There is no indication if this is a Brooklyn or a Manhattan or another NYC address. I would appreciate learning how to verify the addresses and to find out who else lived at those addresses at that time. Is there some kind of annual city census or some other kind of record that would provide me with the information? Since my own experience and the familiarity that come >from reading the JewishGen site regularly show that there are many knowledgeable, helpful people out there in cyber-land, I feel sure that the needed help will be forthcoming. Therefore I want to express my thanks in advance. Cordially, Julius S. Cohen Ann Arbor, Michigan
