Researching Elizabeth Babetta VOGEL SILVERFRIEND #germany

pfishyuma@...

Hello GerSig,
I just joined the group. I have been doing genealogy research for 30 years.
I consider myself to be novice in doing German Jewish Genealogy research.
I live in rural Yuma, Arrizona USA. My native language is English.
I consider myself intermediate in using a computer. My experience in using
the Internet is extensive. I have identified the names and birth year and
aprox. death year of Elizabeth Babetta Vogel SILVERFRIEND 1842-1918 - born in
Germany, my great great grandparent and the birth year and death date of
Moses SILVERFRIEND, my great great grandfather 1829-1877 - born in Poland/Austria.

My primary research goals now are to find out: exact birth and emigration
information on Babetta >from Germany. I believe she emigrated to Canada via USA
in 1861 or 1862 to marry Moses SILVERFRIEND. Babetta's sister (Mrs. David HAMMEL)
of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada was the match maker.

The family names and towns that I am researching are:

VOGEL - Germany to Canada via USA 1860-61, married Moses SILVERFRIEND in 1863
in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Children Henry 1864 Hamilton, William 1855
Hamilton, Harriet/Henrietta 1866 Hamilton, Evoline/Edith 1868 Hamilton,
Rose 1870 Hamilton, Rosa 1859 Poland. Moses Immig. Abt. 1860 Rochester,
NY tailor Greentree and Wile. Oct of 1872 Menominee, MI, 1875 Jeweler Sheboygan,
WI, 1877 died Appleton, WI, Babetta ran confectioner shop in Appleton until
1900. My ggm Rosa SILVERFRIEND possibly child prev. marriage Moses. Rosa listed
Moses & Betsy parents

Re. Leipzig #germany

HHHeilbut@...

Hallo, Mr. Leo asked about researching in Leipzig. I did some research in the
Stadt Archiv of Leipzig for the SEALTIEL/SALTIEL family. See my article
in the "Maajan" 17.Jahrg. 4.Quartal, Dec.2003 Heft 69. The article is written
in German, but Mr. Leo will probably be able to find somebody to translate the
important parts of it for him.

I was offered generous help by the archivist. And I believe that there is a lot
of information available. Kind regards,

Helga HEILBUT, Bergisch Gladbach, Deutschland <HHHeilbut@T-Online.de>

Help needed identifying Sam KLONSKY who married Basha (Bessie) BELKIN #general

amethyst@...

One Sam KLONSKY married Basha (Bessie) BELKIN, daughter of Israel BELKIN and
Chaie Riva KLONSKY, probably in Zembin, Belarus where her family was from.
The marriage date is unknown. They had two daughters, Ida and Yetta/Etta.

Bessie was born in Zembin on 10 February 1883. She arrived in New York with
Ida on the S. S. Noordam on 25 Mar 1905. Ida was born in Russia on 12 January
1904. Yetta/Etta was born in New York on 26 October 1907.

Bessie is on the federal censuses of 1910 and 1920, and on the New York
state census of 1915 in New York City, each time without Sam. Those
records indicate she was still married.

She was admitted to citizenship on 5 Feb 1923. On her petition for
naturalization, she says she is married, her husband's name is Sam, and that
he is living in Canada.

Bessie died in the Bronx, New York on 2 July 1964, and her death
certificate says she is a widow. Daughter Etta was the informant.
But I have found nothing on Sam KLONSKY. I also have nothing on Ida, the
older daughter. I do know that Yetta/Etta died in Florida in 1991, and
that she married a LEIBSON sometime after 1936. In 1936 she was working at
Stockton Supply Company at 507 West 16th Street in New York City.

If anyone can help identify Sam KLONSKY and/or knows of his daughter Ida,
please contact me privately.

Thanks in advance,
Nancy Maxwell

Prosek(Prosecco) hospital where he died and was burried in the cemetery
with the same name. Any ideas for a contact of holder of archives for that
cemetery?
Intersting question.

Prosecco (Prosek) was an indipendent municipality, but apparently its comune
(town hall) doesn't existe any more. Prosecco became a district of the town
of Trieste.
TRieste has several graveyards, Prosecco is the Austro-Ungaric one.
Here are some images of the graveyard
http://www.thule-italia.com/Marco71/Prosecco/Prosecco.html
You can research about the archive of the hospital through the comune of
Trieste and ask for a death certificate.

First I would like to thank all of this Group with their generous offer
to translate for me in the last 24 hours!

I have the translation and won't need any more help with this.
You are the greatest!!

I have already thanked all of those who have done the translation for
me.

I received 4 translations (>from four different countries, by the way).
What appears to be just a simple message, has given me some remarkable
information. For example, the name of one of the siblings I have been
searching for. A real find!!

I will be giving a donation to JewishGen in appreciation.
