5308, 2334; 17 miles east of Bialystok) in 1884. Apparently her family
was living there at the time due to her father managing or working at a
textile plant near this town.

I have been searching for information about this town and its Jewish
residents for nearly 10 years and have not found anything until now.

Recently, I was using the Yad Vashem Central Database of Shoah Victim's
Names and, on a whim, searched for "Location = Pieszczaniki."
Unbelievably, two Shoah Victim names appeared. If anyone knows of either
of these people or any ideas for further research, please contact me
privately.

I am searching for Mozes Blumenberg >from Tyczyn, Poland, born June 1920.
He is the son of Hene (Eisen) and Jonas Blumenberg, and got >from Tyczyn
to Israel some time in the 1930s. He was still in Israel in 1945, but
may have left for Russia at the end of the War. He is my grandfather's
nephew, and he has extended family here in the U.S. who want to locate

Just to add to the confusion there were some villages in the crownland of
Galicia that were called Bukowina (about 10 of them). That is also the
precise spelling of the name of the Austrian Province. "Bukovina" (with a
"V" instead of a "W") is an anglicization of the spelling.

uncle Leibe BASSEIN, it was said in an obituary that he was born into a
family of bakers. His father, Betsalal, also a cantor in Minsk, worked
in a relative's bakery and was known in Minsk for his excellent matzoh.
In the U.S., Betsalel also worked in a relation's bakery. I am
wondering if that bakery might have been a HOROWITZ bakery in Minsk
and in the U.S., as in HOROWITZ-MARGARETEN.
