Hello all;

I need to send funds to a researcher that I have hired in Hungary. I am
wondering what means others have used to convey funds.

This is for an independent researcher, not one of the archives, since
archive policy may be different than what an individual may experience.

I looked into wiring the money, but the fees for doing so constitute 25% of
the researcher's fee, which seems excessive. He has suggested sending cash
via registered mail, but the people at the local post office have said they
believe that has a 50-50 chance of making it.

Have others used registered mail and has that been successful?

Has anyone used money orders? If so, which kind/brand of money order works
in Hungary?

My researcher seems reluctant/unwilling for me to send a US check or a money
order, but I'm not sure why.

Looking for suggestions.

For Jews who lived in Hungary or annexed territories between 1939 and 1945, there is a new reparation process under way. It is called the "Hungarian Gold Train Settlement". In brief, it's a class suit in which survivors (and their heirs) meeting certain criteria could be entitled to be included in that suit.

am told). I am wondering if you could direct me to
some people, societies, or networks where I could find
if anyone who knew my grandfather. He ran a successful
movie production company, and worked with the Danish
on certain operations (or so I am told). His name was
Adolf Eugen STERN and lived on Mommsenstrasse? Most of
my family moved to the Commonwealth and the Americas
post war. I am one of the few Jews left in my family
that is not assimilated into secular culture. I would
like to do some research on my family. Can anyone
point me to any particulars where I can continue my
