Karmina BAKALEINIK
#general
egrdn@...
Three of the Pages of Testimony for my Goldsholl family were submitted by
Karmina BAKALEINIK who is described as a relative in Russia. Recently I have received translations for several old family letters, some written >from Wel'ka Glusha and a few >from Siberia. In one of the letters >from Siberia, Manya Goldsholl mentions her daughters Anna and Carmina. Family lore tells of two Goldsholl daughters who were in Siberia and "got away" to Israel. I think that Anna and Carmina or Karmina may be those sisters. I assume BAKALEINIK is Karmina's married name. If I am correct, Anna and Karmina are my second cousins. Has anyone on this list any knowledge of them? Eleanor Gordon Lafayette, California

Re: INTRO - researching ROSENSWEIG family from Germany

Gary Blatt <garyblatt@...>
Unless I missed something, Gary, you didn't say how you know that they camefrom Germany to begin with. We have Rosenzweigs >from Trencin CountySlovakia as well as >from East Galicia, for instance. Israel PickholtzWell there is the real issue. It seems that some of the living relatives heard a story that he left Germany to avoid conscription in the German army only to arrive in Poland and became conscripted in the Polish army. However, no one can seem to recall the town or region in Germany. My focus is of course within my family to glean any more details about this event. In the meantime, I am using the internet as a resource as well. Thanks, Gary Blatt garyblatt@cox.net MODERATOR NOTE: Getting information >from family members is always the first step. The more you get the easier it will be for you to use the Internet (including GerSIG) efficiently and effectively. To help you use our part of the Internet for your research, GerSIG sent you our INTRO letter when you joined us. It includes links to many starting point web sites. The best of these for a new genealogy researcher is Warren Blatt's "FAQ" introduction to Jewish Genealogy Research. http://www.jewishgen.org/infofiles/faq.html Spend some time with this guide while you gather more of your family's memories >from relatives. Then you'll be able to help this Forum help you. MOD1
