Seeking WACHSBERGER/HAFNER/WALDBAUM descendants #general

Stephanie Weiner <laguna@...>

Dear Genners,

I'm seeking any descendants of my grandmother's nephew, Bernard / Bennie
WACHSBERGER. Bennie emigrated >from Bialy Dunajec to New York in 1911. He
was born in Nowy Targ (aka Neumarkt) Poland circa 1894. He married
Fannie HAFNER in 1917. Fannie was >from Lviv / Lvov / Lemberg. Her
parents were Philip HAFNER and Esther WALDBAUM. The couple were married
by Rabbi Aaron HAFNER at 168 Delancey Street. According to the 1920
census, Fannie and Bennie had a daughter, Beatrice, born circa November
1918.

Aaron HAFNER appears in the 1910 census, living at 178 Stanton Street,
with his wife, Tilly, and 4 daughters: Mollie, Annie, Jennie and Sarah.
In 1920 he appears in the census as Aaron HOFFNER, with his wife Tessie,
and 2 daughters, Jennie and Sarah. One assumes the 2 older daughters
have married.

I have not been able to find any of these folks in the 1930 census. Any
information will be gratefully received.

Have not registered but saved our rooms so we are coming. It will be our
first IAJGS conference so I hope to attend the meeting and the
luncheon. So at least count on me - Barbara. My husband will pursue his
own lineage and it's not Latvian.

I have gotten a number of emails about the Latvia SIG activities not being
included on the IAJGS Las Vegas web site. The web site has not been
updated since early February and the Latvia SIG activity schedule was not
finalized at that time. The Latvia SIG annual meeting is scheduled for
Monday, 11 July at 3:30 PM and the SIG luncheon is scheduled for Thursday,
14 July. I hope that we get a large turnout for both activities. We plan
to have interesting presentations at both venues, including a panel
discussion following the formal meeting on Monday. We will also be
participating in the SIG Fair, so please bring memorabilia or artifacts
concerning your genealogy research for all of us to enjoy.

By now many of you have made definite plans to attend the conference, so
please contact me directly if you do plan to attend and also send me your
ideas of what you think should be addressed at the meeting and panel
discussion. I'd also like to know who would be available as volunteers to
support the Latvia SIG at the SIG fair and other events.

I got a very good response on my last request and I hope to hear form
those who did not respond earlier.

See you in Las Vegas.

looking for researcher # 12286-Loveman family #general

Jean Block <jbretired@...>

Hello. I sent a message through Family Tree of the Jewish People to a
researcher. We seem to be researching the same Loveman people. I
have not heard back. My question is this: Is there a way to know if
my message got to him? He/she is researcher # 12286, and his
information was posted in August of 2000. I tried to find this
researcher by looking at the Family Finder, but I could not see him
there. Any other ideas? thanks a lot.

I am Jean Block, researcher 64484.

My great grandmother had the name Basha which also became Bessie (in the
U.S.) for some reason (not due to Ellis Island mistake).

Rav Menachem Mendel KROCHMAL #rabbinic

Dubin, David M. MD

My gggf, Rabbi Pinchas LINK (head of the bet din of Topol'cany,
Slovakia, 1804 or 1814-1882) had on his tombstone that he was a
descendant of the "Tzemach Tzedek," Rav Menachem Mendel son of
Avraham KROCHMAL (not the later Lubavich Tzemach Tzedek),
c1600-c1664.

Does anyone know of any more genealogical info on the original
Tzemach Tzedek (ancestors or descendants)? It seems he was not
related to the more famous KROCHMAL, Rabbi Nachman KROCHMAL.

Thanks.

DEATH CERTIFICATES. #unitedkingdom

Nigel Wilson <wilsonettes@...>

Good morning friends,

I am about to order Death Certificates for my great-grandparents - male
dated 1929 - female dated 1931 - both London - however before I do so can
anyone enlighten me if in both cases the deceased persons mother's maiden
name would be indicated?

I have been given to understand that certificates changed criteria over the
years.

Many thanks for your help.
