KANTER Family #general

Rabbi Ben-Zion Saydman <ravbenzi@...>

Shalom Genners:

I have received a few inquiries of late about my KANTER family. Sadly, no
connections were made and I have not yet found any living descendants. So,
here goes a shot in the dark. If you recognize any part of this family,
please contact me.

Herman (Chaim) KANTER, born 1843 in Russia, married Rose, born 1845 in
Russia. They immigrated to the Bronx, NY and owned a leather goods store.
Herman and Rose had the following 6 children: Sarah, David, Moses, Isidor,
Miriam and Charles. All of the children were born in Russia between the
years of 1875 and 1885. Several of the boys worked in the family leather
store. Some of Herman and Rose's grandchildren were: Jesse, Laurence,
Edith, Florence, Jerome, Evelyn, Alexander, Mary, Bella, Phillip. Other
surnames married into this KANTER family include: WERNER, FREEMAN,
LEIBOWITZ, SLATER.

I told you it was a shot in the dark.

My family is originally >from the Marmers county of Romania.
Specifically >from a small town called Viseau de sus.
I am looking for information regarding the Malka FOGEL family
Apparently there were some where around 6 brothers and sisters in the
family.
But I am looking for information regarding the earlier generation.
I am also looking for information specifically about that towns History
and Lore and why the town was founded?

To Yehuda Shalom,
1. I second your motion.
2. The meetings of the SIGs is per initiative of the members interested and
is not organized by the Organizing Committee of the Conference. The
Organizing Committee just sets the time and location for it, on demand.

Dear Yehuda and all Rav-SIG subscribers,

There is no Rav-SIG meeting scheduled at the upcoming conference in
Jerusalem. The main reason for this is that no viable candidate has
stepped forward to take over as Rav-SIG coordinator. Perhaps you and
other interested members could organize a time to meet informally and
discuss issues relevant to our group, including finding a new
coordinator and web master. Unfortunately, I am no longer able to
function in these positions due to family problems.

If anyone is interested in discussing this further, I am of course
available to help in any way possible to ensure the continuation of
our group.

Best wishes,
