As Gabor Hirsch mentioned earlier, the young Istvan Balogh may be able to help you. He is one of the persons who has an extensive material about=20
Bekesmegye or any place in this region. Let me know if you want to have his e-mail address.

Finding Hungarian book #hungary

korman <korman3@...>

Apparently some distant relatives of mine have some personal information
listed in a Hungarian book called

"Ungvár és Ung vármegye: Ungvár és Ung vármeghye községei

Could someone make suggestions on how I might find this book in some
library in the USA? If I could locate it, I might be able to get it via
interlibrary loan.

All help is appreciated.

Rabbi Moshe, brother of Great Aaron #rabbinic

chaikin <chaikin@...>

Dear all.

I am descendant of Rabbi Moshe, who married a daughter of Chaim
Chaikel (died in Amdur 1787).

I think that Rabbi Moshe was born 1738 (two years after his
brother), and maybe died in Tiberias 1778. I think that he was
married twice. Do anyone have material about my ancestor?

Best regards,
Udi Cain (Chaikin), Israel

Jerusalem conference #general

Arline and Sidney Sachs

Sallyann Sack and I have been doing a Jewish geneaology TV show for
almost 5 years. We tape 2 shows a month shown on a local cable access TV
station (Fairfax County Access Cable in Virginia) . We would love to be
able to
tape some interviews at the conference, but do not own a digital video
camera.

Is anyone bringing a digital video camera (using Mini DV) to the
conference? If you are and would like to act as camera person for us,
(or lend my husband the camera), please let me know. You can reply directly
to me at <sachs@nova.org> A possible time for taping might be Sunday
morning, if we can also get guests at that time.

We do own some tapes that we can bring along.

MODERATOR NOTE: Anyone who is interested in the conference, should
subscribe to the Jerusalem 2004 list, for news of

Re: Useful web-site #unitedkingdom

Robert Fraser <rwfgjf@...>

This site has been around for some years and is a catch-all of
useful and not-so-useful information. But it's worth noting that
most of the genealogical links are to sites prepared and
maintained by JewishGen and it's hosted SIG sites.

As we are reaching the home stretch, we are putting the final touches on
the program for the Jewish Genealogy Conference in Jerusalem. We have
made arrangements with the Chevra Kadisha [Burial Society] to enable you
to search for where your relatives might be buried in Jerusalem [only].

We are posting a downloadable .pdf on our website:

This file should be printed, filled out and returned to us as instructed
on the form. When you arrive at the Conference, the information will be
waiting for you.

We will continue this service after the conference as well, but preference
until then will be given to those registered for the conference.

Yad Vashem has informed us that they have extended their hours for research
during the conference. Their hours for the week of 4 - 9 July will be as
follows:
Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:30 am-7:00 pm.

close at 5:00 pm. but the reading room will remain open until 7:00pm.
Monday: 8:30 am-5:00 pm. Storerooms close at 3:30 pm.
Friday: 8:30-12:30. Storerooms close at 11:00.

according to need. The information desk at the entrance to the reading
room will be able to direct you to these overflow rooms.
