Yalta burial

marilyn <mrl516@...>
I have learned that some of my relatives were buried in Yalta. I would love
to hear >from someone who has studied about the Jewish community in Yalta (what made it a favorable place for Jews) and also >from anyone familiar with Jewish cemetaries in Yalta. Thanks to everyone that contacted me re: Oystragh lookup. I got a telephone number and will try and contact the family in Australia. Marilyn Feingold USA

In the booklet named in the subject, there are stories >from people who
originated >from this area. The booklet was printed in Buenos Aires (1955) and is written in Yiddish. Thanks to Tamara Selden, Rachelle Berliner, I have the translation of my Step GrandMother's story. Tamara has volunteered to do more translations. Here are the names of other people who's stories are published in this pamphlet. If you recognize any of them perhaps priority can be given to that one. It is a list of members, their occupation, and how much they contributed to the upkeep of the synagogue and Jewish community. These rosters exist for many communities and can be found in the Main Archive of Old Acts (AGAD) in Warsaw as well as in regional archives. They are in a collection called the CWW collection. that it is some sort of Radomsko 1820s synagogue register. Please let me knowif you have some idea. The title reads "Rozklad Na Parafian Wyznania Mojzeszowego na utrzymanie Buznicy w Miescie Radomsku na lata 1829/31 ulozony" which means "Distribution of support for maintenance of the synagogue in the City of Radomsko by parishioners of the Jewish Faith for the years 1829/1831." I cannot read the first column The subsequent columns indicate names, professions and amounts. Kris Murawski

Towns around Bialystok
#poland
Avigdor&Laia <lbendov@...>
I compared the town list at w3.jewishgen.org/InfoFiles/BialystokRRG.htm with
the Voivodship list at w3.zchor.org/bilaystok/bialystok.htm and the difference is notable. What criteria are used for inclusion/exclusion? My personal list of towns around Bialystok, where I am researching, is much longer than either and I would like to see an all-inclusive list somewhere. Has anyone done this? My publication efforts are leading to a bi- or multi-lingual town list which researchers can consult for accurate spelling. Why reinvent the wheel every time one needs to write down a town name? Even the PolishGen website has only a limited town list, but somewhat better than JewishGen's list for some reason. Not all towns or shtetls, of course, had Jewish residents and may be ignored for our purposes. My town of Zawady, for example, only had 19 Jewish families and is not listed in JewishGen. Dear Members,
Several people have written to me with suggestions of town & district names that might be linked to our Ukraine SIG website. It reminded me that some of you may be creating webpages for your focus of interest. If this is the case, could you kindly notify me so that that we can provide a link to our site (as well as the Shtetlinks site). We await your submissions! :-) Florence Elman Ukraine SIG Coordinator haflo@shaw.ca
