Info re Henry Edelman
#lithuania
Hensal <hensal@...>
My thanks to Andy Cassel for helping me join the Keidan Group.
Unfortunately my late father never told me much about his life back in Keidan so I am now trying to trace back his ancestry. Our family history is as follows: Father: Known as Woolf(Zev)Edelman born 24 May 1902, Keidan son of Henry Edelman and Minne Merkel.Emigrated to South Africa 1929, my mother Sonia Michle Esrachowitz only followed him in 1931, they settled in Johannesburg and I was born 27 July 1932. My father's 2 sisters followed to South Africa, Chaia and Chava. Chaia went from Keidan 1919 to Palestine, married and went to Australia and later toSouth Africa. My dad recorded my name as Hennech Edelman on my birth certificate and only after finishing school he informed me that my name should be Henry Jacob, so I had my name changed. I would mention that there was a large Keidan Society group in Johannesburg between 1940 -1980 but unfortunately I have no info about the group. I married Sally Rabinowitz May 1958 and we have 3 children, one living in South Africa and two in New Zealand.I qualified as a pharmacist 1956, worked as Production Manager/Managing Director of a Danish Pharmaceutical Plant in South Africa called Novo Nordisk. My daughter married a Kiwi and left for New Zealand, she has 3 children. My youngest son and wife also emigrated to NZ and they have 2 children. When I retired fron Novo after 32 years we also emigrated to NZ in June 1994. This is just a brief picture about my family and I look forward to gaining more info in the future. Of my late father's family only he and his 2 sisters survived to the best of my knowledge, I think he came >from a family of 6 or 7 children. If I can help with further info I can be contacted by e-mail at: hensal@clear.net.nz Thanks, Henry Edelman

Dear Genners
I am sending this on behalf of a lady who does not have internet access. She is searching for descendants of her father's brothers, and has the following 'sketchy' information: Her father was Yehoshua LANDAU, one of nine brothers. The parents were Baruch and Mara. All she knows is that the family came >from Silesia. Her father went to the UK, as did two more brothers: Marks and Aron. Two were in the US - Avraham and Solly. She is searching for the possible descendants of the other four brothers. If anyone has any information about this family, please reply to me and I will pass on the information. Locating U. S. counties
#general
C&V <proprius@...>
Several genners have posted sites to locate the names of
counties and the cities therein. Just be aware that a county in the United States may have changed its name or the area that it encompasses. Depending on the time you are researching, the present county seat may not be where you will find the historical records you want, nor the county have the same name as it did when your relative lived there.
