Re: The Name "Shmelka" #general

< hekenvin@bellsouth.net >

Is Shmelka (as a first name, not a surname) a "kinui" of Shmuel? If
not, what is the derivative of the name?

With thanks,
Helene Kenvin

You are correct, Helene.

Shmelek (Shmilek) is kinui of Shmuel.

guide in Moldova #romania

CrisisPro@...

I will be traveling to Moldova in May and am seeking a guide to meet my
husband and me in Kishinev, then drive us to northwestern Moldova to visit my
grandfathers village near Edinet. We also want to visit the Jewish cemetery in
Edinet and Briceni as well if there is a cemetery worth seeing there.

If anyone has used a guide in Moldova or has been to Jewish sites in these
places, please respond to my personal email with suggestions for how to make
arrangements and for which Jewish sites could provide useful information. I
understand there is man named Ackerman who tends the cemetery in Edinet but beyond
that, I have no information.
