Palestine marriage and Israeli death records (JAFFE, COHEN) #general

Mindie Kaplan <rayvenna@...>

How would I obtain a marriage record >from pre-Israel Palestine? I'm trying
to find the marriage record of Abraham JAFFE (September 12, 1888 or 1889) to
Gitel COHEN (February 21, 1908). They were married in 1925 in Palestine and
had a son, Jack Jaffe 3/22/1926 in Safed.

I'm also trying to obtain the death certificate of Gitel Cohen JAFFE. She
died September 18, 1994 in Israel.

I'm also interested in contacting their descendents.

Thank you for your help.

researching RUDA & ALENSTEJN from Przasnsyz #general

Marty Meyers <meyers01@...>

I keep finding RUDA connections to my ZYLBERMAN family.

The latest:
Ryfka ALENSTEJN, born c1828, daughter of Leyzor Zelkowicz ALENSTEJN, married
Zelek RUDA, son of Gderl and Chaja Sura RUDA. Ryfka died c1851, after which
Zelek RUDA married Liba ZYLBERMAN.

Note that the JRI-Poland index for this record (based on the Przasnysz
clerk's index--I guess it was hard to get good help back then) is incorrect
and lists here death record as Ryfka ALENSTEJN which was actually her maiden
name.

I'm beginning to find lots of connections between ZYLBERMAN, ALENSTEJN and
RUDA.

is Leyzor Zelkowicz the groom's uncle? #general

Marty Meyers <meyers01@...>

Hi,

I have a potential rosetta stone. The brother of my ggg-grandmother
Malka (nee BRZYSKIER) ZYLBERMAN was Juda Lejb BRZYSKIER and his marriage
certificate is on viewmate at

http://data.jewishgen.org/ViewMate/ALL/viewmateview.asp?key=2985

Malka and Juda Lejb's mother was Leja z Zelkow. A witness at the
registration of the marriage was Leyzor Zelkowicz ALENSZTEJN who I suspect
was Malka and Juda Lejb's uncle and, if true, will give me a maternal
branch that goes back to the late 17th century.

Can anyone help me and tell if there is any indication in this record that
Leyzor Zelkowicz is related to the groom or mother of the groom?

Thanks,

Marty Meyers

Voter Registration Records #general

All,
Voter registration records can be even *more* important in a large city,
particularly if the name is a popular one. New York City and San Frqancisco
are two very large cities with excellent voter registration records.

I haven't seen mention before in the list of the value of voter
registration records in tracing genealogy. If your relatives lived in a
small US town, rather than a large city, these records can be an
invaluable source of information.
