NYC phone directory lookup #general

Maya Elbaz <elbazm@...>

Dear all,

I am trying to contact my third cousin once removed, whom I think
will be able to shed some light on a branch of the family tree I
know little about. I can find her listed in the white pages
online, but cannot access her contact information for free (they
want something like 30$!!).

I would appreciate it if a kind US genner could lookup address &
telephone details for Herta Seidman (maiden name Lande), married
to Sam Seidman, residing in NYC (and possibly with an address in
Florida as well).

I'd be happy to do some Israeli phone directory lookups or
translations >from Hebrew / French / Italian in return.

SCHMIDT Family of Grosskrotzenburg near Hanau #germany

Ralph Baer <RalphNBaer@...>

A set of my fourth great-grandparents were:

Simon SCHMIDT 1767 Grosskrotzenburg - 17 October 1839 Grosskrotzenburg,
married to Madel REUSS (REIS) 1762 Hoerstein - 23 December 1829
Grosskrotzenburg. Simon received Schutz for Grosskrotzenburg on 8 October
1796. According to his gravestone, Simon's father's Hebrew name was
Schlomo.

Simon's only known sibling was Liebmann SCHMIDT 1773 Grosskrotzenburg - 10
December 1849 Grosskrotzenburg. Liebmann was never married. I am very
interested in finding out about other children of Schlomo (assuredly
Salomon). I am also very interested in finding earlier ancestors of both
Schlomo and his unknown wife.

Simon and Madel had five children:

1) Ester SCHMIDT 1799 Grosskrotzenburg

2) Israel SCHMIDT 23 August 1801 Grosskrotzenburg - 5 October 1837
Grosskrotzenburg, married 31 May 1836 to Sara KATZ about 1807

3) Aron SCHMIDT 23 May 1803 Grosskrotzenburg - 5 October 1883
Grosskrotzenburg, grain trader, married 1. 18 April 1841 Grosskrotzenburg
to
Ester (Eva) EISEMANN (sister of 5) about 1811 - 20 June 1853
Grosskrotzenburg, married 2. 4 September 1854 Hanau to Bettche SCHOENEMANN
about 1818 Dietesheim - 30 December 1893 Grosskrotzenburg

4) Bille SCHMIDT 1804 Grosskrotzenburg

5) Seligmann SCHMIDT 16 January 1805 Grosskrotzenburg - 14 August 1873
Grosskrotzenburg, grain trader, married 16 December 1839 Grosskrotzenburg
to
Roeschen EISEMANN (sister of 3) abt. 1812 - 19 March 1872 Grosskrotzenburg.
Seligmann and Roeschen were my third great-grandparents.

I have fairly complete data on Aron and Seligmann's descendants, but I know
nothing further about Ester and Bille. All I know about Israel is that he
had one daughter Malchen SCHMIDT 15 June 1837 Grosskrotzenburg. Any
additions interest me.

If your relative is Ashkenazic, they should be able to help you.
In 2000, they were at 63 Herzl St., phone 04-642-405.
Other Chevra Kadisha listings in Haifa:

Weissensee is not the only Jewish cemetery, or at least not the
only one where Jewish Germans were buried. There was another one
in the Lohenstrasse [?] and another in the Clasinstrasse [?].

These names are >from family memoirs that give no details of the
further location, ownership, administration, or religious
affiliation of the cemeteries, but they probably still exist.

Dear members,

I have a photo of one of my mother's cousins and am hoping to find
additional information. Written on the back of the photo is: Tauba

Aloha:

My paternal grandparents and great grandfather emigrated >from Russia in
1889. He was Isaac Stern, a shoemaker, born in 1859 in Minsk. With him
was his bride, Anna Sara Baronovitz, born in 1865 or thereabouts in
Grodno. Anna's father, also Isaac was born in Grodno in 1846. Their
respective parents were also >from Minsk and Grodno.

Isaac's brother, Harry Stern arrived in New York a few years later.

I have seen various spellings of my grandmother's surname: Baronov,
Baronoff, Behrenowitz. The Stern name is unchanged.

I have just begun this search and most of the lists I have found were in
Russian. I need direction, please. Thank you for reading.
